8J TT Rims onto 8L S3 - What Size Adapter do I Need???

Hi All,

I've managed to find a set of 18" current model TT rims part number 8J0601025Q for sale they're 3.2 rims that are 9Jx18 ET52 and come with good 245/40 R18 tyres. Anyone fitted a similar set of rims to an 8l S3? I know i'll need 5x112 to 5x100 adapters to make it work i'm just not sure what thickness would get the ideal stance without any scrubbing. I also found a set of 19's part number 8J0601025N which are the RS4 style 7 split spoke and are 9Jx19 ET52 fitted with 255/35 R19 tyres. If i could make the 19's fit that would definately be my choice but i think the 255's will rub. Has anyone ran a 245 18 or 255 19 on an 8l S3? If so what final offset did you run with adapters? Also my ride height is currently standard but i've got a set of koni coilovers just waiting for some wheels that are worth lowering it over. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Wow ET52 is going to need some massive adapters! You'll need 20mm all round just to get ET32 which is the standar 8l wheel offset. If you want them to then fill the arch more you're goin to need 30-35mm adapters. I've just ordered some 20mm and 25mm PCD adapters from awesome gti for my new S4 wheels and they're the best price I found around.

Hi Westle,

The extra inch each side of the rim over standard will put me pretty close to filling the guards if i run a et32 offset.
My biggest worry is the 255 tyres scrubbing on everything inside the front arches.

Has anyone run a similar spec rim? If so what was you final offset?
Hopefully someone out the has ran some wide Porsche rims or similar that can help out.

Tyre width is going to be a problem methinks. My 19 x8 rims running 235/35 tyres on ET35 are very close to the front strut, I put a 5mm spacer on for stance and a bit more clearance, so 245 and above is going to be close or touching! Certain with a 9" rim, you will need ET25 to clear the front strut and then see how much the alloy pokes out the wheel arches, or maybe they will be level?

There's plenty more room in the rear arches, you can get 255's under them, and ET17 is possible on an 8" rim with 225 tyres and corrected Camber from adjustable tie bars, there's still lots of room left with this setup!
