Hello MateHi Steve, I'm running the g60 flywheel and VR6 clutch in my A3, and it's brilliant.
The standard G60 flywheel weighs 10kg, which is already lighter than the dual mass standard flywheel, and would make a good difference.
Mine has been lightened down to 6kg, and it's absolutely great.
I'm using the LUK VR6 clutch kit, which mates directly to the g60 flywheel, and is rated to just over 300lbft.
You also need the g60/ABF flywheel bolts, as the standard ones are the wrong length.
THe flywheel you need is often refered to as G60, but it's also the same as that fitted to the ABF engine, which is the 2.0 16v fitted to the mk3 golf gti.
All in all, it's super cheap to do, around £100 for the flywheel brand new, £100 for the clutch kit, and I paid £100 to have it all lightened and balanced.
The difference is great too, it picks up a LOT faster and feels way more responsive. it's also a really nice pedal feel, and not bitey at all.
I fitted this setup a few months back and it’s progressively got worse and worse. I can’t chnage gears with out a crunch. Almost like the clutch isn’t disengaging. I have resorted to double clutching to stop this. I’m thinking of going back to OEM with a updated clutch. Any thoughts? =]
