Had a google on servicing for the 7 speed s tronic on facelift S3’s and read that its sealed and requires no service, can anyone confirm this is correct.

The only thing I was told by my dealer is that it requires an oil change at 38000 miles(think that was the figure). We both smiled at this because he knew I wouldn't have the car that long. 
Yep they aren’t sealed, they require a service at 38k on every model that uses the S Tronic.

Interesting because when I booked mine in for a service I asked about the S Tronic oil change. They put my reg into the system and it didn't give an option to service the gearbox. She then went away and said it's because my box is sealed.
Now I'm really confused
7 speed STronic on anything 1.8 litre or below (except 1.8 Quattro) is dry clutch sealed for life.
6 speed or 7 speed STronic on 2 litre is wet clutch with oil change.
Above applies regardless of petrol or diesel.

Interesting, I didn’t realise there were different variants of the stronic i presumed there was only 6 or 7 speed.
Audi released a 7 speed dsg box with a wet clutch for the ea888 engines called the dq380...
Well I know that’s not true because my granddad has a 1.4TFSI A3 and Audi told him to make sure the gearbox goes in bang on for the 38k to cover further issues haha! He’s had 2 clutch packs under warranty

I checked and confirmed this recently, the service schedule has been revised to 80,000 miles on all facelift S3 8V variants.
Previous it was a shorter time / lower mileage, but the revision (circa 3/4 months ago) was made by Audi and if your preferred main dealer puts your reg in on the system, it will give them this information

I did my gear oil at around 30,000 miles
I would highly.... no, STRONGLY recommend you do the Hadlex oil change - roughly every 25,000 miles
And flush out the filter on the pump at the same time !

I couldn't agree more! It's very easy to do yourself and it can really be a PITA if the filter clogs up and the pump bogs down - be ready to spend some £££ then.

Thanks guys, still not sure what to do, phoned another two Audi independents one said it doesn't need changing, the other said it did and a different Audi main dealer said it's showing as change at 80k miles but he said he's never seen one that says that before and he also said the haldex is showing at 3 years not depending on mileage, the car has currently done 28k miles, think i'll get the haldex done for peace of mind but the stronic????
Hang on you say bogging down, how do you mean?
I've got a noise from my Haldex whenever it kicks in when a gear is already engaged, it feels like TC intervention because the engine gets bogged down and it gives off a hesitation.
It's been into Audi twice, the first time I was told there were no fault codes so no issue.. I used a different dealer then and they said that the change of note you can hear was because my exhaust valves are UNPLUGGED. Surely that would mean there wouldn't be any change in note... absolute plumbs.
When the filter gets clogged the pump will sooner or later stop working properly - that's what I ment with "bogs down". This is usually shown by excessive front wheel spin during hard acceleration in the wet as if the 4wd doesn't engage. My car has been doing it pretty much from new, the front wheels never spin it’s just the engine bogs down and it makes a pretty nasty noise most times the back wheels kick in.
Hi mate I have a 310ps facelift S3 and nearly due dsg service I believe (done 35k miles)
But want to get it done regardless pretty soon
Do you know if the procedure is the same as the 6 speed ?
I've watched this video
And can do it if it's the same as a friend has vcds to view gearbox temp .

Yep, that's why I'd like to get it done myself early. Was wondering if the video above is applicable to the 7 speed boxes, I called an independent place up and they said my Haldex is a none serviceable item in terms of filter clean/change.

I personally wouldn’t leave it that long
Your independent, in my opinion, isn’t that much of a specialist.
You can either clean the filter out, or if you’d get the service kits for haldex equipped Volvos, you can change the filter

As a mechanical engineer I just laughed when a heard it - no oil lasts forever (which actually is not Audis intention in the first place, the lifespan of a new S3 is set to be 250.000km/150.000miles

Yes I found proper genuine be golf r 7.5 workshop manual online and found the same info for the 7 speed box there.
I also read dunno if it was further up this thread or elsewhere that it's rumoured VW and Audi have done this to make the running costs cheaper on paper to get more fleet+hire vehicle contracts ect which would make sense
I wouldn't worry too much but most dsg cars for the last 10-15 year from bag group have always been around 40k/4years serviceable item so what's changed ?
Vag don't care as long as it lasts the 3 years warranty
I'm only on 35k miles and for now I'm just going to leave it alone until there is more info
I have a 2016 A3 1.4TFSI 7 Speed Stronic with a dry sealed unit.
His is a 2015 and they have told him the same.
It’s never sealed it’s just Audi for some unknown reason decide with some gearboxes they don’t need a service, yet my S Tronic does.
We have 2003 A6 at the moment with an auto box, made by ZF. Audi say sealed for life, ZF laughed down the phone and said it’s nonsense every gearbox needs an oil change and they recommended something like 40-50k, so we’ve had it done for the first time with 160k on the clock.
@creweaudiparts just confirmed for me that service interval on 7 speed S3 gearbox is 40k miles
I wonder where the extra 2k came from....because 38k is the magic number.

I was going to make a comment about that being a complete waste of time and money.....then I figured you must be at the wind up.
Unless your car had only done 8k from new in say 3 or more years.

Iv did over 200 launches and car has been tuned most of its life so thought why not on its 2 year service had haldex done to along with engine and a dsg remap
I have a 2015 1.4 TFSI and I just confirmed with Finchley Road Audi in London that it’s a sealed unit. Sounds like your grandpa is being taken for a ride.
