I'd avoid carb cleaner as it contains oil to lubricate as well as clean.
stick to electrical contact cleaner or brake cleaner which evaporate almost instantly.
I have to say I don't think cleaning is worth the effort, get yourself an OEM replacement not some cheap one from eBay or even from GSF/ECP (Yeah I know they are Bosch), stick to the main dealers.
lots have cleaned them with bad effect too. my mind is that if theres any question then repalce unless the cost is huge...which it wasnt...just my take though
The MAF can have a huge effect on the performance and economy of your car - You've only got to consider the reasons why you want to change it. IMHO spend the £65 or on a new one and be sure it's working properly, after all you don't change the oil and clean the filter do you.
