Hey,
Sorry to start new topic but I found on auction yellow 6pot brembos from Q7,Cayenne,Touareg
They are suitable for 350mm disks.
Can I fit those to my 1999 s3 and well im noob with brakes so can I use smaller disk or do i have to use the 350mm?
and if so, wouldnt 350mm be bit overkill?
Thank you in advance for help.
I hope someone can help me, auction ends in few hours

I ran these calipers with Epytec brackets and 334mm R32 discs on my Golf mk4 (same chassis as your S3)... But be aware, not a lot of wheels will fit anymore, as these calipers are WIDE af...

You need carrier adapters whatever disc you use but You can use mk4 r32 discs. These brakes look impressive but they are not well suited to the s3 let brembos or Porsche 996 brakes are better as the 18z brakes on the s3 8l have a bad pedal travel, I do have a set of 18z and you need at least a 18” wheel to clear the calipers

so I could run 334 disks even they are machined for 350mm disk?
350mm disk needs 18" wheel if im not wrong and it would mean to buy all new tire sets.

thank you for your information. Im not going to buy them since there seems to be some negative things and Im really not keen to buy new sets of tires since i just bought all new winter and summer tires.
Thanks a lot again :)
I look into brembos or 996

Car stops now great too but Id like more stopping power since there is more horsepower too and with stroker engine even more.

I have 334 mk4 r32 discs with 18z calipers and some adapter brackets I bought from cncmachinist on the r32oc forum. 17’s do fit, I normally run Audi s8 18 inch avus with 25mm 5x100 to 5x112 adapters, I have some c5 a6 rs4 style 17’s with winter tyres that I use in winter months, I also have had a3 8p 17 inch sport wheels on and I tried a b5 s4 rim on which also clears the brakes and I will be getting these refurbed to replace the a6 winter wheels.

what would be most bang per buck ones? like what calibers are cheapest to provide more stopping power?`

I was always told you need 18” so will they fit under the standard s3 avus with some spacers on

Lean cupra brembos can pick up for around £250-£300 if you find a deal

I don’t think they would even fit and I doubt that you can even find a carrier adapter to make them fit stick with the tried and tested options there’s enough of them

Yes the original s3 avus should fit with spacers, I have adapters on so it’s just easier for me to leave them on and use 5x112 winters rather than the originals and spacers. I find that 5x112 wheels tend to have more brake clearance than 5x100 ones too

how much were the brackets and where you bought them from?
Also were you calipers from touareq v10 too?

My other car is a MINI!!!!
Hang on,

So you didn't buy 18z touareg brakes because of all the negative posts and because you'd have to change your wheels.

Now you're buying some different 18z? From a touareg? That will be identical and have the above issues?

They're a poor choice for the 8L if performance is your main goal.

Like nick said in terms of performance you will be better off going for 4 pots, they are so much more better suited for these cars. That said i don't think i could get rid of my 18Z now, they look mental especially with the right rim choice. one thing to note is they are a pain to have because you need to find wheels that fit them, pads cost way too much and the choice is very limited but it comes done to what you want on your car :icon thumright:

What pads are you using

TRW - OEM style it’s ok for now, but you can use EBC red or yellow.

Search in other foruns and you’ll find people using pads for track use.

I didnt find brembos but I got offers for cheap 18z so I started to think again. Now that I know it fits in 17" wheel im tempted to buy :)
I would like some more stopping power since car is now fast and getting faster. Too bad I cannot afford new sets...

Can anyone elaborate about the poor pedal feeling?

The travel of the pedal increases, for me this wasn’t a problem... it’s not that much

I have the brembo 4 pots put on mine recently and I have to say they are amazing. Good enough for what I will need. Those 18z look good but a bit over kill.

Question for anyone using these calipers, I know the common thing is the r32 disc but it seems a bit of a waste considering these were designed for 350mm disc. Mtec will drill any disc to a different pcd for £25 so I’m thinking of getting 350mm disc would any 350 disc work? Once redrilled? I’ve seen merc ml disc mentioned but means using 17z pads and Alfa disc also

When running these with r32 disc do you use the r32 dust shield or the s3 ones?

To answer your previous question about larger discs than r32 ones, epytec sell brackets for the mk4 platform to use the 18 z callipers on a b5 rs4 front disc which are 360 mm
