My current set of Bridgestone Potenza Sports are getting towards the end of their life. They probably have a couple of months left in them so I'm considering whrther to get a set of all season tyres for the winter months.

Has anyone put all seasons on their 8Y and are there any recommendations of the best ones to go for?

And does anyone have a view on whether the all seasons are even needed through the UK winter or if sticking to the Bridgestones would be perfectly fine? I've stuck to the Bridgestones through the last few winters but curious to know if anyone favours all seasons when it's colder.

Cheers!

My personal opinion is that for a daily driver all seasons are the way to go. The OEM Bridgestones on mine were absolutely terrible in snow compared to all seasons, my current car is RWD with Michelin all seasons and I managed to get through the last big thing of snow without getting stuck so definitely rate them.

Thanks for that, that's really helpful. Do you have the Cross Climate 3s by any chance?

I've never been a huge fan of the OEM Bridgestones either. I fully expect the all seasons will lead to a drop-off in performance but would be interested to hear if you think that's the case and, if so, how noticeable it is?

I actually can’t remember if they’re the 2’s or 3’s to be honest, and too lazy to go out and check just now.

In terms of performance, they’re obviously not going to be as good for outright grip as PS4S’s or something, but I’ll just say that all the traffic cars tend to have Dunlop all seasons up with us and I wouldn’t say they seem to struggle too much when they’re flying about!

Unless the weather is bad all around the year in where you live, I'd invest to a second set of tyres. I don't see much point in having such a performance car and then compromising the driving dynamics with soft tyres. I wouldn't go for a new set of the OEM Bridgestones either, they seem to be some low rolling resistance tweaked crap even on the RS3, which means they are harder than the regular tyre shop ones and thus probably noisier and less grippy than the non-OEM ones.
