Hi all. Apologies in advance as I'm sure this question has been asked a bazillion times; I'm just looking for a definitive answer after googling the flip out of it trying to find answers.
I recently took ownership of an A4 B9.5 Avant and, as seems to be usual, it's sans spare wheel and toolkit. I've got huge suspicion for those sealant kits, so I went ahead and bought a spare wheel, jack and toolkit for it. I test-fitted the wheel yesterday and it fits perfect, but I've seen other posts talking about the Audi circular foam toolkit that sits beneath it.
Is it absolutely necessary to get one of those circular foam kits, and do I have (and is it ok) to remove the chunk of foam indicated in the photo so that I can fit my toolkit in the gap? I'm aware that the wheel might touch the cabling in the floor, so I reckon it would be ok to get some squishy foam to protect them.
Thoughts? What have you guys done to fit your spare wheels?
