AC unit problem

Hi there

The AC control unit on my a3 is not letting me increase the cabin temperature. I can increase it though by using instead the "Hey Audi" feature. Has any of you guys had and solved the same problem? The car is a 70 reg so there is no warranty, if in the worst case scenario I have to replace the unit, what is the best place to order a new one please? Thank you.

I have had the AC Control Unit repaired and apparently is a known fault with Audis. The place I took the car to is called KG Auto Electronics, I will put the link below in case anyone else is having the same issue. It is based in Oldham just outside Manchester and you can either send the faulty unit or you can book and drive to the place where he will take it out repair it and refit it. The guy did it for me in just over a hour while I went for a walk around the town. Also have to say that this place is not a garage and the guy works from his home.

Good that you were able to get it fixed
Looking at the ad and others that pop up it does appear to be a service that replaces the micro switches.

Yes, I am glad too. Was getting fed up of the arguments with the "Hey Audi" thing, lol.
 
So did they really repair the AC control unit instead of replacing the whole thing, which was what Audi did (AFAIK) in warranty cases?
 
As far as I know audi don't repair them, just replace. The guy that repaired mine, opened the unit and replaced only the microchip switch. It works absolutely fine now.
 
Ok. Good to know there are still professionals who can actually repair things.

I've heard that in some cases Audi takes the faulty parts back, repairs them and sells them as spare parts to some third-party garages. I'm not quite sure what to think about it, but the most important thing is if all of them don't just go into a mountain of waste.
