Had to replace my key battery. So chucked in a Duracell CR2023 (which i had left over from a 2 pack i bought previously)

However, like with the other in the pack, the car wasn't happy. It wouldn't lock the car, and i need to put the key in the cupholder to start.

I then remembered about reading about Panasonic batteries and issues with the Duracell. Which is what i had in there (Panasonic)

But i asked Gemini why that would be the case, and it suggested using nail varnish cleaner (i used isopropanol) and cleaning the battery contact and voila. It worked. So the one that i through away previously would have likely worked. There was also a little bit of plastic that my old eyes couldn't see (not the don't eat sticker)

I also cleaned the contacts in the key itself - althought they looked fine.

Not the most exciting thread - but something to try before shelling out for a different new battery if you're having issues.

Thanks for sharing. Comfort access eats batteries like hamburgers so I usually buy the cheapest ones. They have worked so far but it's good to know what to try first in case they seems to be rejected at some point in the future.

When I changed cars at the start of the year my alarm man swapped the Pandora over and upgraded the fobs for me, he noticed the Duracell battery in the alarm fobs and said they dont normally work very well if at all and also suggested Panasonic was better
