Existential Crisis

Some advice please Audi guys and gals. I bought a cheap Audi D3 with my eyes wide open. It is a very high miler, 228k miles but a one owner car and although I've only had it a few weeks, I like it an awful lot. Everything works, it needs some bushes on front suspension but on a longer journey today, the yellow/amber suspension light came on but only at 70mph. It goes straight off when car restarted and car is sitting level, doesn't sag overnight although I believe it will sink at the rear when left for several weeks.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I will have codes read later this week and have a better idea myself. What I found interesting was I put the car in comfort and the light still came on last 65 mph or so...I had thought it wouldn't alter ride height if left in comfort? My suspicion is that the car is trying to 'settle' when I drive faster and something (bag, compressor, sensor etc.. is stopping it from doing so?)...does that sound logical.
It was a cheap enough big car and is only used for long journeys and I knew there are manifest issues with older cars of this sort, so as I said, eyes open when I bought it...
