The infamous selector lever: fault error

Hello everyone, so I've been randomly getting hit with selector lever fault error. It's an 2022 a3 automatic hatch.
I figured it's some switch in there not contacting properly from time to time.
Some quick googling and it turns out to be common when it comes to VAG cars... Had regular interval service done in January and no issues were found and DSG itself shift like a dream.

Anyone else experienced this in 8Y and managed to easily fix it?

No idea about the problem but I have an understanding that the piano black plate around the lever should be pretty easy to take off, so if it was my car the first thing I'd do would be opening it and checking all the couplings around the lever.

I had the ignition button replaced in my first 8Y and around the same time the same one of my buddy's Skoda Kodiaq was also replaced, both under warranty, so looks like VAG got some bad bunch of parts for that area at that time.

Sorry the off-topic but - I still don't miss the old-school gearbox lever sticking up from the centre console, not at all. But I have to say the original knob in the pre-FL 8Y was significantly better to use than the current one. Recently I drove a Golf Mk8 and was surprised how nice the gear selector was to use.

Other than that... bruhh, what a horror car, felt way cheaper than it is and had a few unbearably loud and constant rattles, less than 50k km's on the clock. Thank God our VW dealer made me a terrible offer and I didn't fall for one back when I was buying my current car.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try and see if I can pry open the console. Saw some YouTube clips about seat and Skoda (same stuff) and it seemed pretty simple.
I totally agree with gear lever thing, I got pre-FL and had a replacement FL one while mine was on regular service, wow so clunky to stick a finger in there!
