With my Rs3 due to be delivered in October I've been looking at which tracker and immobiliser is best to get. I've been looking at the Meta Track Deadlock which seems to give good functionality. I was originally going to get a ghost 2 with an additional tracker, but with having to have a fob inside the car before it will start with the Meta Track I don't see the need to have a ghost fitted as well. What are you guys and gals using and how do you find it. The car will also have a disk lock fitted as a visual deterent.

I'm still a big fan of ghost albeit now have about 50 button presses before I move off after turning off all the EU nonsense too!

TX.

Have both is what I say....Ghost 2 and an S5 of your choice.
If they nick your keys AND the S5 fob (typical if house is broken into) then they're away. If there's a Ghost installed as well then unless they know the Ghost disarm sequence then the car aint going anywhere.....

Good point mate, thats the way I'll go. Just got to wait for the car to be built now.

Look into Pandora, just a simple tag that you need on you before the car will start, also has live tracking to your phone and even if they were to take both your key and the tag you can phone your car and disable it

I’ve had a pandora in the past, not overly impressed if I’m honest. Surprised they still going as they were Russian owned, you use to need to log into a russsian website to manage the system.

After sales support wasn’t great either.

Good systems in my experience are

Meta Track S5 Deadlock
Smartrack S5 Imob

Ive had it on both my RS3's, I got it moved over when I swapped cars, it has been good since 2022 and 'better' with the later fobs that I got changed a while back, better as they have a slightly stronger signal so dont get masked when in you pocket, battery change is easier as well

Most trackers are pretty useless as most of the time the scrotes will use a GPS and GSM blocking device.

AFAIK Tracker are still the only company that use VHF in addition to the the other 2 which can't be blocked.

I have Pandora, worth mentioning, there is a yearly cost for the SIM, about £10 a month for the data service it uses.

I've currently got the Meta Trak Deadlock Pro on mine, which is excellent and can recommend.

I know a lot of people will say Ghost and Pandora systems are worth looking into but I've been told by more than one installer that Pandora's customer service/after care is dreadful, which is something to consider.

I had a Starline system on my 8V which I'd also highly recommend and it did a fantastic job, alongside having a pretty decent app in terms of its functionality.

Both the Meta Trak and Starline have a tag system, so you can just get in and out without inputting a button sequence before starting the engine and both can be put into service mode for when it goes in for services and work to be done, etc.

The other thing is that both Pandora and Starline have Russian origins, which I guess might be a consideration for some people (and is actually why I switched to Meta with my 8Y, in case ongoing service became a challenge).

I forgot to add, the Meta system also disables the OBD port (can't remember if others do that) and have multiple (wireless) connections, which makes it harder to locate and overcome.
