My 2018 TFSI has no USB ports only a cig lighter is it possible to replace cig lighter with a double USB port ? anyone done this?

TIA

Have you looked in the arm rest? there should be 2 x usb posts in there.
Ha yes thanks found them but would be better positioned if there were some in the consul area as I want to fit a dashcam but do not want cables dragging over into the arm rest.

Wire the dashcam to the fusebox

Yes that was what I was going to do BUT if its done this way you have to tell your insurance as it it classed as a modification then chances are they will up your premium?
So decided to get a Garmin which comes with a power adapter gives you two USBs that plug straight into cig socket.

No, you can simply use a fuse jumper to piggyback off the 12v socket supply. It's fully removable and non-permanent. That's how I did mine (positive to fuse jumper, negative to a screw/bolt somewhere nearby to get a ground). Plug it into F40 on the fuse panel, you have two options; switched live (bottom position) or permanent live (upper position)

Thanks, but sorted it now I bought two Garmins one for the front one for the rear both cam with a double plug-in USB front one I fed wire under headlining down nearside door pillar under glove box into gig socket, did similar with rear one but ran cable under rear seat under carpet and into rear cig socket, so now have two spare USBs in addition the the two in the arm rest.

Thanks to all replies.
