I have ordered a new RS3 and after the order was confirmed it has an estimated build date of the 27th July. I get a weekly update from Grimsby audi and my estimated build date is now the 24th August. Is this normal for the estimated build to change until it has a confirmed date, also could the date be brought forward also.

It's normal, but I don't know how typical it is nowadays. I ordered an A3 during the chip shortage period and the estimated date got delayed multiple times before it was finally confirmed. I didn't get any info about when my current one was supposed to be on production, but it came two weeks earlier than what was the estimate when I ordered it.

Simon, your order delay could be due to the interior update. Better ask your dealer and decide if so, that you're happy with the changes.

As long as it has the 5pot i can deal with the changes. Rather have the climate controls with the buttons but my current 8.5 golf r has the climate control through the screen and I manage ok with that so not a major issue.

My new one was given a build date of 11th June and I picked it up on the 19th June So I guess it can move back or forward. Yours may be affected by their Summer shutdown?

I think if there really is a summer shutdown, which I doubt, it's a known factor and was taken into account when the delivery date was estimated when placing the order. But some unexpected delay in the supply chain can delay the whole thing.

All the main Car manufacturers in Europe have a Summer shut down for the best part of a month. Normally July or August. We've never supplied Audi but I know Peugeot, Renault, PSA etc all have a shutdown. Would be surprised if Audi didn't. I agree it would probably be factored in at some point.

Ok that's interesting info! I thought they would keep the production running over the holiday season, even if not at full capacity, by staggering the holidays. I ordered my car in early summer and it took about three months to delvier, which looks like there couldn't have been a total shutdown, at least not a long one. French work culture sounds like a thing that may be quite different to the German one, so no wonder if PSA shuts their factories for summer holidays.

Back in 2022 my car had a build date around June, it then jumped to March and I went into the dealer just before Christmas to change the seats to alcantara centres.

They tried to change the order but were unable to, it then transpired that my car was due to be bult first week of January 2022 and the spec was 'locked'
