A Common Audi MMI No-Sound Fault

A small tip for anyone diagnosing an Audi MMI with no sound.

If your car does not have a separate amplifier and the amplifier is integrated into the MMI unit, don't assume the fault is software-related just because the system boots normally.

We've seen units where:

• Radio works
• Navigation works
• Screen works
• Settings can be changed
• But there is no sound at all

The interesting part is that many of these units show no obvious signs of failure. Everything appears normal apart from the missing audio (can be some, can be all speakers).

The root cause is around the internal amplifier section. Just something worth keeping in mind before spending too much time chasing speakers, wiring or coding.
