2014 Audi A3 8V 2.0 TDI CRLB (85k miles)
Looking for some advice before spending more money.
Symptoms:
* Intermittent long crank/no start.
* Engine cranks normally but won’t fire.
* Usually starts after several attempts.
* Slight hesitation/flat spot below ~2,000 rpm but pulls strongly once turbo comes in.
* No limp mode.
VCDS findings:
* P0341 Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) - Implausible Signal.
* Fault is intermittent but returns every time the hard-start issue occurs.
* During a failed start, engine speed was visible in measuring blocks (around 300+ rpm).
* Fuel rail pressure reached target during cranking.
* ECU reported NO_SYNC / EPM_MODE_WAIT during the failed start.
Work already carried out:
* New battery.
* Genuine Bosch camshaft sensor.
* Genuine Bosch crankshaft sensor.
* Timing checked and adjusted (mechanic found it slightly out).
* DPF pressure sensor replaced.
* Air filter and pollen filter replaced.
* Fuel filter last changed around 2 years ago.
Despite the above, P0341 still returns and the hard-start issue remains.
Has anyone seen this on a CRLB engine where both sensors have already been replaced?
I’m particularly interested in:
* Camshaft trigger/reluctor wheel issues.
* Wiring/connectors between G40 and ECU.
* Cam/crank correlation issues that remained after timing adjustment.
* Any known CRLB-specific causes of persistent P0341.
Thanks.
