It has been all change once again in the sport of Formula 1, from driver Team changes, the end of Red Bull and Max Verstappen's dominance right through to further engine tweaks and regulation changes as F1 goes further green. Oh and Audi are now starting to take their baby steps in the sport for the very first time after a number of years of dedicated planning.
The German manufacturer is now a bona fide constructor in the sport, and although it has obviously been far from plain sailing so far, and they have undoubtedly encountered a number of expected roadblocks along the way, CEO Gernot Dollner fully believes that they are 'absolutely on the path' to becoming a championship challenger - and further, he feels that this could still be a reality as early as the 2030 racing calendar, having previously made the very bold claim.
With off track work and plans stepping up significantly in the 12 months prior to us ticking into the New Year as the varying deadlines neared, the full takeover of the former Sauber team in Switzerland was completed over the winter and with 2026 Grand Prix's ticking by, Audi are now a fully autonomous constructor and power unit manufacturer. By way of comparison, they have not yet won the jackpot at the best binance coin casino, but with the positives that they are taking they have picked up some small wins and are confident of greater ones to follow.
Audi currently sit in ninth spot in the Constructors' Championship, but there are certainly those neutrals in the wider sport who would argue that this does not quite represent just how competitive they have proven themselves to be since arriving on the grid in Australia. When they are good, they have been good in an upper midfield qualifying point of view, however, they have struggled to get off the line in a consistently strong enough manner and that has become a very notable bugbear for all in the pit.
Race misfortunes that have also led the team to only registering two points so far has also been another frustrating point, as they have clearly demonstrated that in a pace point of view, they are more than capable of keeping up with the likes of Alpine and Racing Bulls. A prime example of this coming from the Barcelona Grand Prix where driver Niko Hulkenberg was forced to retire from the race owing to a stone hitting the engine shutdown switch whilst he was battling with Liam Lawson - a true one in a million event that turned the German driver religious as he bemoaned the lack of support from the 'racing Gods' and how they clearly did not like extra points.
Despite all that though, confidence and positivity remains incredibly high and the wider Team are getting used to very quickly bouncing back from those disappointments that might lead some to torch the car and walk away looking for the insurance pay out!
Dollner is clearly convinced that the 'racing God's' are just testing how much they really want this success, and when that is proven that Audi will gain their full support and then the sky will be the limit, and Audi just aim higher.
