Got the most bizarre issue.

A month or so ago, I was driving to work and started getting random warnings about the assist systems being unavailable, such as pre-sense and rear cross-assist. These kept bonging at regular intervals as I was driving.

Figured I'd pull over and do the old "switch it off and on again", except after I turned off the ignition, it wouldn't turn on again. The car was totally dead, as if the key wasn't present. In addition, the car would unlock from the fob but wouldn't lock!

Called Roadside and waited. After an hour or so, I thought I'd give it another go and lo and behold, it was all working fine again! Cancelled the roadside callout and figured it might have been the battery in the fob so replaced those straight away.

Yesterday it happened again. This time I was getting two assist warnings every time the car came to a halt. They disappeared as soon as I moved off but then repeated the next time I stopped!
Drove straight to the Audi dealer as it was only a mile or so away as I feared the same thing might happen and I thought it was better to get stuck at the dealer.
Sure enough, same thing as before. Ignition was dead and the car wouldn't lock. Also the DRLs were stuck on after leaving it for about ten minutes which is very weird.
After half-an-hour or so, it cleared and was starting and locking fine again.

The dealer has it now and are going to investigate today but I can pretty much guarantee they'll say they can't find anything.

Thought I'd mention it here just to share the weirdness and on the off-change anyone has experienced anything similar.

Sounds like you may have more than one issue going on here. I only say this as mine recently started doing what you mention with respects to the assist systems warnings... they would appear when i was also getting a pop up in the virtual cockpit say "System initialising" and the MMI going blank. It went in last week and apparently there was a unpdate for the "5f" module. seems to have done the trick.

Hope you get to the bottom of your issues! i feel your pain as Ive had a torrid time with mine... been back to the dealership 6 time in 18 months.

Out of interest, which software and hardware versions are you running? Mine's about a half year newer than yours and haven't had a single software-based issue. Some warning lights come up every now and then but they aren't real problems, they just disappear without leaving any trace.

I'd have to check.

Dealer couldn't find anything in the end. I neglected to mention before that the car did have a ghost on it but I couldn't see how this would have any impact and the dealer even agreed it was exceedingly unlikely and they saw plenty of cars with them on.

Nonetheless, he said that, should it happen again, they'd need the ghost removed in order to do any further diagnostics (process of elimination etc) which is fair enough.

I've actually had the ghost removed for now and will see how it goes. Not had any reoccurrence so far but that could just be coincidence.
