Hi there.

When I picked my RS3 up I remember having the live pressure and temperature on each tyre on my display but having a look for it this week I couldn't find it. Been through all the settings etc with no success. Is there something I am missing or having tyres changed lost something?

If you had live pressures at the start then two possibilities come to mind:

1. when the tyres were changed they did not put fresh valves in and/or the batteries have gone flat or cheap non-branded sensors have been fitted and failed early. The 8V goes back to passive sensing if it loses the live signal. Not sure what the 8Y does.

2. The car has been into Audi and had a software update which has defaulted the system to passive and may need the module re-coding. Have heard that before on a couple of cars.

Should be there in the virtual cockpit and MMI
Check the Valve stems as the TPMS sensor ones have a thicker stem with a nut shape on the top of them and are a grey colour (my 8Y was)

Tha is for the replies guys. I'll have a wee look tonight. Car hasn't been back to Audi so thinking it's been done when tyres have been changed. Doesn't even have the option in the virtual cockpit... Had a look everywhere for it.

I'd be mad if my tyre shop had disposed the TPMS sensors while changing tyres. Epic botch. "Cool looking valves, sad to bin them..."

Even if that happened the car would still have the TPMS display in the VC and MMI, it would also flag a warning up for missing sensors.

If a software update removed the module from the gateway and enabled the ABS version the OP would still have the MMI option to store values.

Maybe, but flybynite said earlier that 8V just went to passive sensing when lost the sensor signal, so could be the case here too.

I retrofitted Direct TPMS to my 8.5V trust me you can't have both coded, it's one or the other, there would be errors all over the place in the VC.

Passive can only be disabled / enabled by altering ABS long coding.

RDK is adaption changes in multiple modules, 19 / 17 / 5F

My 2026 vorsprung RS3 does not have the "full" TPMS, it only has the basic tyre pressure loss indicator.

The valves on the tyres are just the standard ones.

Should it have the full TPMS ??

I thought that too but before I had sensors in both winter and summer tyres I used to just unplug the module (which I fitted in the boot) and it defaulted to passive. I think it is some sort of a safety procedure for any failure of the live TPMS that came with TPMS being mandatory. Can't take credit for that myself it was DJAlex that worked that one out :icon thumright:

AFAIK the full TPMS isn't available for the facelift RS3 in UK. No idea why's that because some European countries, like us, get it as a standard.

I know when i fitted the module to my 8V it didn't play nice with the passive TPMS, but i never needed it after that as i bought some aftermarket wheel sensors for my Winters.

Who knows what Audi's reasoning was - have to say it is one of the things that was hugely disappointing about the post facelift RS3.

My 3-year old and a smidge S3 is falling apart (probably needs new water pump, as yet undiagnosed battery issue) - I have an RS3 on order which seems to be taking ages but not sure how much I want it now if Audi can't make a car which can outlast its warranty by more than a month.

What's your warranty policy like? For us it's like if something breaks up that soon after the warranty's expired, it will most probably still get fixed under the warranty. However, our warranty was only 2 years until the end of the last year. Now it's 5 years and I'm pretty sure after it expires that will be it for good.

I'll have to ask, it's not booked in until next Tues but I had a chat with an independent mechanic as well as one of the Audi techs (see my post in the A3/S3 forum) and it's looking pretty likely the water pump is shot. I'm hoping the fact that it is only just out of warranty and the fact that I have the RS3 on order will produce some good will.
