Has anyone removed the front registration plate plinth from the 8YF ? In my old 8V you could remove the plinth from the front easily and there were mounting screws there for the rego plate.

On the 8YF you have to remove the front bumper to unbolt this stupid plinth and i cant tell if there are mounting holes in the middle to put my new rego plate on.

If anyone has removed this can you let me know. Thanks !

Looked at doing this but the screws are in from inside the bumper which is not accessible as their is a foam pad on the crash bar which is in the way. I took the top panel off where the bonnet release is and you can see there are four screws a few centimeters in from the edge of the plinth two on each side. Looks like the bumper would have to be removed.

I’ve just discovered the same issue. Pretty annoying..

Bumper has to come off. Absurd design

Do you know what the situation is with the mounting holes beneath the plinth?
I had purchased this numberplate holder / bracket for front and back. Installed easily on back of car but not sure after removing plinth if I will be able to attach it?

You have to screw it into the grill with self tapping screws. Easy enough. The bigger problem for Aussie plates is that our plates aren’t as long so the 4 screws holes that the plinth was screwed into are exposed. Given the grill is black and the holes are black it isn’t that noticeable - but I know it’s there.
