Anyone tried adding their own photos to MMI?

I noticed the new MyAudi app update included the function to add your own photos so I decided to give it a go, with mixed results.

Adding a photo to my profile in the MyAudi app was striaghtforward.

With the MMI, I ended up with firstly one, then two random photos from my iphone as in the photo below. Interesting to know if others have tried this.

Can you set your own photo as a wallpaper to the MMI, like the Audi Themes that are sold in the functions store? If you can, then I'll give it a try.

Your pic shows one thing I dislike in the Apple CarPlay. All the Apple graphics are rounded on the edges while Audi's own graphics are sharp-edged rectangulars. Those don't make very a stylish combination.

It seems to be very limited what you can do and I'm pretty sure you can't set your own wallpaper unfortunately. It doesn't look like I even have the ability to 'upload up to 5 photos' for the MyAudi screen on the MMI. I've realised that the photos I do get are just my iphones 'featured photos' and there's a setting to use 'widgets' from my iphone under Carplay settings, not MyAudi. Was worth a try but not really worth bothering with IMO.

UPDATE

I managed to get this working and tested it today. I'm thinking it's a result of one of the more recent MyAudi updates as I can't remember seeing this option before.

In the phone MyAudi app check under All Functions. On that list you should see an option 'myAudi in Apple CarPlay' which is underneath 'Themes'. Go to 'My pictures' on the list and give access to you photo library. After that you should be able to upload your 5 photos from the 'cog' icon. I'm not sure if everyone automatically gets this 'extended infotainment function'.

The functionality is still limited in that you still can't set the MMI wallpaper. However, if you select Apple Carplay from the menu and scroll down, you should see one of your five photos. If you select the photo and use the icon to make it full size, it fills the MMI screen. But that's only when you have the Apple Carplay screen open

The down side is that you have to do that manually each time .

At least I now know it works, even if I can't be bothered to use this 'function' .

Does this mean that CarPlay doesn't remember the pic as a set wallpaper and it must be set again after every ignition...?

I only have "Themes" in the Extended infotaiment functions section in my MyAudi app. Does it show all the time in your app or only when you're in the car? On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if my spartan iPhone just doesn't support such a complicated feature

Yes, unfortunately it seems you have to reset the photo each time you re-start the car, if you want it full-screen, which is a pain.

The option still appears on my Iphone 13 when not in the car. I’m not even sure how long I’ve had that new option. The strange thing is that after the latest MyAudi update a few days ago, it disappeared for a short time before re-appearing.

As others have found, it seems to have a mind of it’s own. I never got the full equipment list back, despite raising it with Audi technical. I don’t have the energy to chase that one. Overall, I’ve had very few negative issues over the last 2 years and it works as it should.

Ok, that sounds like I'm not missing too much. And it's possible that my iPhone SE doesn't support this feature, even though it uses the latest iOS.
