Hi there,

I want to buy a B9 S5 petrol (2017-2018), and just wondered what people's opinions were regarding the factory options worth having, ones that can be retrofitted etc.

EG, is the HUD really worth it? Matrix lights? Do they all pretty much have massage seats? What else is an easy enough retrofit besides hill-hold and FBSW? Maybe some option I've never heard of yet...
Will try to get highest spec I can find for my budget - but don't want to regret 6 months later anything I didn't look for.

Cheers!

If it were me, I'd be looking for one with the virtual cockpit (tech pack) and probably the comfort and sound pack for the B&O sound system. The extended ambient lighting is also a nice touch if that's your thing.

Massage seats are a bit of a gimmick IMO (I have them), it's just an airbag that inflates and deflates in the seat back.

You could retrofit full TPMS so you get the pressure display on the MMI/VC. Traffic sign recognition is also handy (but not always accurate), it will need new parameters uploaded to the front camera and some VCDS coding if you want to retrofit.

The MMI (MIB2) on the pre-facelift can be "hacked" for lifetime map updates and you can have speed cameras on the map, plenty of info about this online.

There are potential issues with the piston skirts and rocker arms on the petrol S5's so do your research before committing.

I’ve owned my S5 for 7 years now and sadly selling it today.
Options I couldn’t live without are Matrix lights, virtual cockpit, and Adaptive cruise control. The rest are just nice to haves.
Some 2017 models don’t have the flat bottom wheel so I’d check that too.

I believe massage seats are standard in the S5 unless you optioned cooling seats.

As for B&O I got the standard sound system and there is someone on here who sells a very affordable upgrade kit.
