Hey guys n girls, I've been driving a derv for the longest time. Im am thinking of a face-lift 8v S3 and am curious as to real world mpg. Assuming "normal" driving. I understand its smiles per gallon, I need to try and justify it... lol.
My sportback was relatively economical given what it's capable of. Round town got high 20s to low 30s, on a motorway run I had 47mpg out of it.Hey guys n girls, I've been driving a derv for the longest time. 100% agree with the Stage 1 remap coupled with a full intake. Turbo blanket significantly decreases heat soak so I recommend that.I've been "testing" mine since the Stage 1 remap from Integrated Engineering, driving to work 2 days a week. In efficiency mode, I've managed 39Mpg driving like the rest of the sheep, slowly, "normally" most of that is motorway, but around 10 miles of town/traffic.
As others have said, the S3 stock, is already a capable car, but Stage 1 opens a whole new world of speed and noise if you couple it with an intake. Mines just silly with some St tu tu noises and lots of intake woosh at low speeds with a little bit of boost. Makes me smile some.
Next is a turbo inlet pipe!
About 25-35 mpg mixed driving as an average I would say. If you're doing more highway driving then 35-40. The Haldex coupling engages a lot at low speeds and acceleration, start-stop etc.Hey guys n girls, I've been driving a derv for the longest time. Are the turbo blankets easy to fit? can you do it without lifting the car? This is what I was looking at:100% agree with the Stage 1 remap coupled with a full intake. Turbo blanket significantly decreases heat soak so I recommend that.
No they are not. I had a workshop do it and I can recommend you do the same. Are the turbo blankets easy to fit? can you do it without lifting the car? This is what I was looking at:

IE Turbo Inlet Pipe for VW & Audi 2.0T/1.8T Gen 3 Engines | Fits VW MK7 & Audi 8V
IE's Turbo Inlet Pipe upgrades your VW or Audi MK7/8V 1.8T or 2.0T Gen 3 turbo by removing the factory flow restriction. The cast aluminum design allows for a constant diameter elbow increasing efficiency over 110CFM from the intake to the turbo without the bottleneck design of the factory unit.performancebyie.co.uk
Also, have you done a turbo muffler delete? I've heard mixed things about these and wondering if it's worth it or not. I'm not planning anymore than Stage 1 (currently), but might go intercooler as well to get temps down some more.

Yes I have a muffler delete as it helps the turbo breathe fully, and also for sound. For Stage 1 I've always changed all components on the suction side + muffler delete. This is the second car I've done it on, just complements the remap superbly.
I have Forge for all parts on the S3 and a BMC sports air filter. On my previous car (Cupra 290) I had Leyo Motorsports and Eventuri Air filter.
I only ever ran mine on super unleaded (performance car, performance fuel is my reasoning). I tried it on 95 but felt it was sluggish, could have been placebo though.fingers crossed next week or so, I'm gong to have one. Are the Super UL only or 95 unless mapped?
