Hi my airbag light's been on for a while and MOT coming up so need to sort it. It's the driver's side according to the OBD11 scanner. Swapped the sensor inside the door with the passenger side one, but has not made any difference. Looked at the wiring loom going to door and can't see any obvious breaks or chafing in any of the wires. What's the next step? Are there any other sensors that could be faulty? Should I look at the wiring under the seat as well? Cheers for your help with this!

Are you sure it's the driver's door or the seat side airbag, usually the connector under the seat & floor are the culprits.

What's the error code?

Hi thanks yeah I'm gonna have a look under the seat, but the error code, pic attached, does specify side airbag, so would that still be the sensor under the seat?

Ah ok, then have you belled out the wiring, cause the airbag module is a fecker to get too, chances are it's door wiring either in the door or in the plug, often wiring is broken in the hinge & you may not see it initially, stick a meter on it mate & see if continuity pings ok.

So if I wanna test continuity of the yellow and brown wires from the sensor in the door, where do the wires end up? This at least will tell me if there is a break somewhere, but can't physically see it.

Go from sensor end to the door hinge 1st on each wire to achieve tone, also note it could also tone if it's got broken strands, but see how you fair, then test from sensor plug to the other side of the hinge connector, from there it goes to the airbag module under the center console but it's unlikely to be that portion of the wiring, doors on these are synonymous for broken wires.

Sorry I don't fully get what you mean. When you say from sensor end to door hinge, is there some sort of connector on the door side, before the wires go through the tubing to the car body? And is there another connector once the wires enter the car body? Otherwise I don't see where I can find anywhere I can put the probe from the multimeter. Excuse my ignorance here!

Ok have you taken the hinge rubber cover of yet as if not then it's likely the wire is inside there broken, inside there is a male & female connector.

The wires snap inside the rubber part due to Audi making the looms too short too flex on some cars.

Thanks for your help. I pulled back the rubber grommet on both sides and found 3 broken wires! One of them was the yellow one from the sensor switch of course...connected them all up with extra bits of wire and airbag light gone! Now booked MOT
