Specialist Trackers UK: Nationwide Mobile Security Specialists for the Audi-Sport Community

Hi everyone,

We are Specialist Trackers UK, a family-run business with over 10 years of experience in the aftermarket vehicle security industry. We run our online operation and storefront from South Derbyshire and provide nationwide mobile installation of the latest vehicle security products.

I’m Steve, and I have been a vehicle security installer for the past decade. This gives us a unique advantage: we aren't just an online retailer shifting boxes; we have real, professional experience on the installation side and real world product experience. This technical expertise ensures were able to recommend the best product choice for specific powertrain applications, something that is critical with modern mild-hybrid and electric Audis.

We decided to partner with the Audi-Sport.net forum because we genuinely love the brand, I currently have a 2017 Audi A6 Avant Quattro myself, my daily workhorse, family driver, and caravan tower. We have extensive experience with Audi vehicles, perhaps more than any other marque, particularly Audi Sport models.

The State of Play: Why Modern Audis Need a Second Layer of Security

It’s no secret that Audi’s latest generations, from the A3/S3 and RS models to the Q-series and the e-tron range, are highly desirable targets. While factory security is better than it used to be, professional thieves in 2026 have moved beyond "smash and grab" tactics and now use surgical, digital methods to bypass OEM security systems in seconds.

We typically see three primary threats facing the Audi community and the wider automotive industry today:

  • Relay Attacks: Common on vehicles with Comfort Access/Keyless Go. Thieves use signal boosters to "bridge" the gap between your key inside the house and the car, tricking it into unlocking and starting.
  • CAN Bus Injection: The fastest-growing trend in 2026. Thieves access the vehicle's "CAN network" through external points (often behind a headlight through a wheel arch, or, unfortunately, a hole saw straight through exterior bodywork) and inject spoofed "key present" messages directly onto the CAN bus wiring. This bypasses the need for your physical key entirely, disarms the alarm, the factory immobiliser, and the central locking, and allows the vehicle to start because it genuinely believes a real key is present.
  • OBD Port Attack: A thief plugs a device into the diagnostic port to program a blank key or force a start. This is essentially a version of CAN injection via an easy-access internal entry point; access is often gained via jamming your key fob's lock signal command. Thieves then access an unlocked vehicle and plug into the OBD port to inject spoofed CAN messages directly onto the network.
These attacks are silent and non-destructive (apart from potentially hole-sawing through your bodywork). They don't trigger the factory alarm because the car believes a "valid" command was received. This is why we focus on layered security that works independently of the Audi factory systems.

What We Recommend for Audi Owners

We offer several top-tier brands such as Meta Trak and ScorpionTrack.

Meta Trak is an official supplier to the Volkswagen Audi Group (VAG). Their telematics hardware is trusted enough to be fitted at the dealer level. However, while dealers can fit a standard tracker following a basic instruction sheet, they typically do not install advanced aftermarket immobilisers. Real security requires a bespoke approach, not a tick-box exercise, and to prevent theft by modern digital methods and aftermarket immobiliser is a must.

For optimal security, we consistently advise installing a combined system featuring both a vehicle tracker and an immobiliser. This integrated approach not only enhances security but also improves functionality and offers diagnostic capabilities through over-the-air communication.

Meta Trak offers a highly regarded product portfolio, with their DEADLOCK range being the most well-known. These are multi-point security systems that integrate tracking and immobilisation, including the popular Meta Trak S5 DEADLOCK and DEADLOCK PRO products, with the DEADLOCK PRO also featuring OBD port immobilisation.

Introducing the Meta Trak S5 DEADLOCK E-TEC

Specialist Trackers UK is proud to bring the Meta Trak S5 DEADLOCK E-TEC to the Audi-Sport community. This system is engineered specifically for the complexities of modern electrified powertrains.

Why is this specific product a game-changer?

The E-TEC was initially developed to solve a problem with high-performance Audi Sport models, such as the RS6. These MHEV (Mild Hybrid) models were challenging to secure because the 48-volt Belt Alternator Starter (BAS) functions as both a starter and a generator. For instance, simply cutting a primary starter circuit is not enough, as the hybrid system can still start the engine in spite of this.

A solution was needed to immobilise both sides of the powertrain simultaneously without throwing error codes. The E-TEC is that solution.

Key Features:

  • Next-Gen Push-to-Start Immobilisation: Unlike traditional systems that cut fuel circuits, basic starter circuits, or ECU ignitions, the E-TEC covertly disables the start/stop button function.
  • Fault-Free Operation: A common issue with aftermarket security on modern Audis is the triggering of dashboard lights. E-TEC ensures the vehicle remains fault-free even when the immobiliser is active, and a start is attempted.
  • "No Tag, No Start": The system operates automatically using encrypted ID tags. No tag? The start button simply won't respond.
  • Remote Deadlock: You can manually "lock down" your Audi anywhere in the world from the smartphone app, preventing it from starting even if a thief has your keys and your ID tag.
  • You could argue that this type of immobilisation is more secure than all other forms. Because the start button is disabled, thieves cannot activate the ignition. Without ignition, there’s no communication with the ECUs (Electronic Control Units). In fact, the reason this system ensures fault-free immobilisation is that the vehicle's ignition does not power on when immobilised. This prevents the ECUs from powering up and encountering faults when they detect an open circuit.
Compatibility Note: The system is compatible with the vast majority of the Audi range (requires BCM2 architecture). There's a compatibility document on the E-TEC product page on our site.
