How (can) you switch off adaptive cruise control so that you have just cruise control?

IIRC keep the radar distance button pressed until it turns off the radar. Been a while since I drove the car.

Because it’s a pain in the backside. Overly sensitive and reduces speed at times when I did not expect it to or feel the need. Stupid system.

Don't get me started on when you 'undertake' someone slower in the right lane. just let me drive the car!

Tested it on mine today and holding the distance button does indeed turn it off.

Very interesting. I asked my dealer why there isn't such switch in the A3 and they told it's because of the safety regulations, it could cause a collision if you haven't noticed the cruise isn't on the adaptive setting. That sounded just as irrational as most of other regulations so I though it was probably right info.

I'd find that useful when the weather conditions are so bad that the radar isn't working, now the thing is you don't have cruise control at all in that situation. All I can do is switch the cruise to the speed limiter and keep the accelerator down. Other than that I haven't had any issues with the adaptive cruise. A very useful feature IMO. It's only annoying when the car in front of you isn't keeping up steady speed without reason and there's no space to overtake.

In answer to what your dealer said, when you do turn it off, in big letters it says remember to brake lol.

It seems all kind of warnings have also increased, almost to the point when you just ignore all of them because there are just too many. My current car isn't even a half year old but I nothiced in a similar courtesy car that could only be few months newer than mine that they had already added some more.

Why couldn't they add that feature (with the warning sign lol) in the A3 facelift, you could as well toggle through adaptive cruise - static cruise - limiter using the same button on the stalk that now just toggles between the ACC/LIM.

Hi I tried using the - and + button but could not get the radar to go off. Is this not the corrwct button?

Yes all of these reasons. I have had a couple of instances now where speed has been reduced for no apparent reason.

If you want to undertake with ACC on you just tap the throttle and the car on your right lit up in green goes off and the radar just focuses on what’s in front in your lane.

I know. It's still irritating though.

Still no luck with getting the radar to disappear. Not sure if there is another setting somewhere I need to disable or they have changed it so you can't switch adaptive cruise off. I have one of the last of the Edition 1 S5's.

Some of us didn’t have that problem as cruise control didn’t work anyway together with various other things
