I was looking for a turbo inlet elbow for my 1.4TFSI, which removes the acoustic chambers.
Unfortunately, all models (aliexpress or known brands) use a silicon hose. I truly hate them, they are cheap, look cheap and have bad fitment.
I stumbled across Project-R1 with what looks like a plastic part:
I asked some questions regarding the product (there are two variants, one has the standard 65mm inlet for original tubing, the above is the 70mm version) and ordered the correct one.
After payment was done, I couldn't reach the shop owner anymore. Starting a convo from a different device was no problem and they assured 5-7 workdays for shipping (for any new order).
I did some research on google and I could only find one commend on a civic forum. That wasn't enough to justify that this shop is a scamming platform.
I checked the instagram account and I found more comments where people asked for the inquiry/receipt and never got them. Recently I checked the instagram and all comments were deleted.
My order page eventually vanished when entering the correct pin. It used to show the state. Order 407 (in case everyone gets the same number).
A week after ordering, I receive a DPD tracking code from Roman Purchenko. The owner of Project-R1. The parcel was not handed over to DPD and the tracking code is still available for weeks.
I then checked the well known drive2 website and found more regarding Project-R1. It seems that some people did receive items, some did not. There are two big topics discussing the behaviour.
Gladly I paid with Revolut and was able to gather supporting evidence that Project-R1 is a scam. I received a 100% refund through Revolut.
It is very unfortunate, as the designer does seem to create nice stuff, but not for sale.
A reminder for all to triple check on multiple forums if people ever purchased goods from unknown brands which do not sell through major platforms such as AliExpress. Always pay with a credit card/paypal/revolut, anything which guarantees a refund if things go south.
As for me, I guess I'll still rock the standard inlet.
