Quite often when I slowly pull out of a parking space or my driveway, the car jams the brakes on. I assume this is the Driver Assist overreacting.

Does this happen to anyone else? It's as if the car thinks I'm about to crash into the cars or hedge parked next to me. I then have to accelerate hard to disengage the handbrake and pull out of the space which feels a bit unsafe when you're in a busy car park.

Dunno if this is the same behavior but I've had this happen to me many times - if I reverse out from the parking space and almost immediately push the brake just to prevent the car from rushing, which it sometimes does when it starts to move, the car jams the brakes. I think this is for situations when you notice at the exact moment you're pulling out that there's still traffic coming from behind and need a quick stop. It's irritating but kind of understandable.

Not been on this forum for years but thought I'd chip in..

I get the same thing when driving out of the garage. Probably due to the fact the sensors are detecting the confined space so like you I just think it's deliberate.

I'll also add that on one occasion when I drove into the garage I tried to edge forward a little closer to the wall in front of me. The car had actually selected reverse gear of it's own accord and so it moved back.
I haven't had the courage to check that one again though!

That sounds like the exact same thing except I'm driving out forward instead of reversing as I tend to push the brake slightly after pulling out to control the car so it must be overreacting.

The other day it was raining supercooled water and the entire front of the car got a thin layer of ice on it. When I approached my car shed it warned that the parking sensors won't work because of the weather conditions. But somehow some collision preventing system was able to activate when I was halfay into the shed, the car jammed the brakes and sounded a loud beep with a big red sign on the dash. Startled me good and my better half even worse.
