Who's had it done?

My car went into the dealer on Monday to get the emergency door release issue fixed, as the rear right door had failed completely.

At the same time I gave them another list of all the random issues I'd been experiencing and asked them to do the update as the car was close to rejection. Got the update done and collected it on Wednesday afternoon.

While I was in there I spoke with a salesman about getting out of the car and back into a A6 C8 of same gen Q8. Upshot was it isn't financially viable as these cars have depreciated so much. He acted surprised when i listed all the issues. Didn't know of them! But he did, because when no one was around he said quietly that my option to reject was the best option and what he would do.

Any how back to the update. Did it work?

Answer is -not sure. 8 miles after leaving the dealer the same fault popped up, 'Drive system fault see workshop'. This car drives fine, but paddle shift doesn't work. Fault cleared with every ignition recycle, only to pop back up again. On Thursday the car behaved. I am hoping it was having its final strop post update and is now fine.

I informed the dealer straight away, who wanted it back in immediately, but we agreed to run the car for a few weeks to see what happens as we can't be without it.

We shall see......

So as an update.

Still getting the Drive system fault, and last week all the parking sensors failed for a few hours, followed by the main driver display failing on a journey. (Had this before).

As before faults clear after and ignition cycle or 2, but the car has to power down completely, so normally overnight.

Made mine worse too.

This is the only vehicle in the house, which my wife needs every day, as I work overseas and she's on her own. Therefore we need a courtesy car as they want the car back in. However have no slots until June!

I really don't know where to go next as I can't keep trying to deal with this 6000 miles away. It would help if they would answer the phone or return calls.

Do I go direct to Audi?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Reject the car.

Keep a full itinerary of dates, problems, resolutions, failures of work to fix etc. Itemise everything. Take photos and videos. Save emails. Record telephone calls.

If on Finance, you're in the best position, go to the Finance company and raise the issue with them. They are governed by the FCA which has infinitely more protection for the consumer than buying direct.

If not;

Inform your dealer, ask for a response within fourteen days. You'll need to provide justification under the Consumer Rights Act for your rejection.

Inform Audi UK of the same and ask for a response within fourteen days.

If they aren't forth coming or tell you to go the Motor Ombudsman, then you're on your own and will have to fight harder (social media and Google reciews, writing to head office of the dealer etc)

Read my other posts on this subject on the other couple of A5 threads, I've been down this road before and recently and it can be horrible, but I've put included a lot of advice for dealing with this, I made a lot of mistakes

Also, if the car gets an official recall -DO NOT have it performed. You can reject the car on this basis alone and the TMO will side with you instantly.

and, hope for the best.

I would reject it. I’m going through this now with Audi uk and finance complany, still not been allocated a case handler. Audi uk did not reply to my last email I sent Sunday. But start the process

My car has been to the dealer many times and no mention of them doing the update. I'm reluctant to have it done as the car is mostly ok.

Also it's worth complaining. They can't ignore the issues with so many cusromers saying the same thing. In my case I am on finance and got a compensation payout. If the car fails badly again, I intend to go down the same route.

My case with Audi finance is still ongoing, when I spoke to them the other day it was still waiting to be assigned a case handler. My 8 weeks is nearly approaching I think it is next week when it at the 8 week mark.

Car goes in for service tomorrow so I’m going to
Mention the eml coming on issue. I’m going to be polite when I go in.

That’s says to me they are overloaded with cases.

Mine got assigned in 2 days. Phone call after 4 days and action with the supplying dealer in a week with two contact names given.

The dealer then fought for a rejection on my behalf which took three weeks to resolve and in week 4 I was paid out
