Central locking will lock, but not unlock

Hi all,

Starting today, my central locking is malfunctioning. Using the remote fob, I can lock the car, but I cannot unlock it. Nothing happens at all. I have to unlock the driver's door with the key then open other doors from inside, if needed.

Has anyone had any experience of this and, if so, do you have any idea what it may be?

I cannot fathom it. If it locks, the remote must be synced, the battery is ok, the fuses should be fine... I just can't think?

Check the door wire harness at the driver's door.
You will probably find broken wires or with damaged insulation.
If the issue is there, you will probably face issues with the window switches etc.

Thanks... I actually tried using the lock / unlock buttons on the door panel today, and they work (when the engine is running). It's only via remote that it doesn't work - and only when unlocking.

Need to dig out my spare key and try that. ChatGPT says maybe the unlock microswitch on the remote is broken

Good idea to check your spare key.
On my key there is a red led that lights up when any button is pressed. Check this also.

So with your first key, you can still lock remotely? Maybe not a cabling problem then. Although I believe that when unlocking with the key on the door (not remotely) all doors should unlock (haven’t tested). That’s why I thought that it might be a cabling issue as well.

Today I've had a very similar experience, car locks but does not unlock.
Fob batteries were changed a couple of weeks ago.........meaning I assumed they were OK. Upon changing them {again} all is OK, they were too low. Did you renew your fob batteries ? I don't want teach my granny etc etc. I know some batteries have a very short life !
I hope you get to the bottom of it satisfactorily.
