You can't fix that, it's replacement time, once the pads snap of it's toast.

Search the part on eBay mate.

From that price it's not auto dimming & 8T 1st gen are dumbos mirror shape.

What usually happens is the connectors get timescale build up & corrosion & they get stuck & then when people try to remove they pull the pad of, but the trick is to put a finger & thumb at the bottom of the connector so you're holding the pads down whilst you're using the other hand to pull the connector of with some long nose pliers slowly wiggling side to side, then you dremel clean both of the mating connectors with a wire brush attachment, thus makes it good.

A friend has a 2018 A6 and was telling me that his driver's side mirror glass "fell out"!

Why he was telling me about this having happened was that his trusted workshop sorted it out for him - but now the mirror heater is not working so annoying him as typically he finds that he uses the mirror heaters quite a lot.

I asked him if his workshop had plugged the wires into the new mirror glass - but it turns out that it was only the actual mirror glass that "come away" - as he got confused when I mentioned the backing plastic frame that the mirror glass was fixed to - including the heater tape behind - but should still be part of it.

Does anyone know which type of mirror was fitted to the driver's side of a 2017 car? From digging into the parts listing there is asymmetric and wide angle - my 2011 S4 has possibly asymmetric but my wife's 2015 VW Polo SEL has wide angle - probably either will function okay as a driver's side mirror, but his plan will be to try to get the same as the original.

You'd need to see a pic of the front of the mirror to be sure or the sticker of part number on the rear.

I got the impression that the old or original mirror had been disposed off, so that option seems to have gone I think.

I've supplied him with the part numbers of both versions.

Edit:- although, if the original backing frame is still fitted to that car, the Audi part number sticker should still be on it.
