For the second time in a week, this has happened. The first time it was all doors, as part of an electrical fault, this time, it is just one door. I am still waiting to hear back from the dealer to have another look. I assume there isn't a way that the driver can retract these, just dealer only?

Happend twice, just the same as you.

First time all 4 doors with hazards flashing and doors repeatedly locking and unlocking. Fixed by Audi assist.

Then Saturday just gone, a week later another one popped out. Audi assist called again as dealer didn’t return calls. Came out immediately, put it back in but said there is a problem with the door. He has passed the report to the dealer through the system and said they should be in touch.

I doubt they will. I think it is time to try and get out of this car and back into a A6 C8.

My dealer hasn't got back to me so I may take up your idea of calling out Audi assist.

Well that was a waste of time. He wasn't able to fix it. Just ended up removing the nubbin and taping up the cable in the meantime. Will still need a trip to the dealer.

I went into the dealer yesterday and kicked up a stink.

They are going to book it in for next month.

On the last report the AA highlighted that the one door could not be opened with the pull tab when the car is unlocked, which is a safety risk.

I also again brought up the constant warnings that appear, then disappear leaving no trace. On the journey there we had ‘rear steer assist fault, proceed with caution’, even though the car doesn’t have rear steer.

I basically said I’ve had enough, it is the worst audi I have ever owned and I will be in touch when I’m next back in the UK to explore returning the car and getting a nearly new a6 C8 or Q8 same generation.

Same as me. Went out on Boxing Day. Cruise control doesn’t work again

So after literally 100 miles of round town driving it gives up again.

Now another trip to the dealer and I am writing to Audi UK to complain.
Compensation for the loss of money on this vehicle due to the paltry trade in value I was offered by the dealer against an s3 has to be a must. According to them I have lost £ 14k in 8 months and 5000 miles. Thats 28 pound a mile for something that was not right from day one

A joke !

Will let you know what happens. Most unreliable car I have had the displeasure of owning in 35 years of driving

I was looking at the used prices the other day. The depreciation on these is shocking!

I will let them attempt to repair this time, and as soon as the next issue happens be on to Audi UK. But I suspect they won’t give a toss either.

I get the impression now that these issues are the norm, rather than exception. In the past the dealer would go out of their way to help, apologetic that their product had an issue. Now they just don’t see to care.

It gets worse.

Seeing as it’s Christmas I obviously needed some more lights lit

I went home after cruise control failed again and then went out after another hour of being sat on the drive and BAM. EML now lit for the 6th time in 8 months.

Followed it up with another email to AUDI UK and the dealer.

Fuming is not the word. Got a three day family holiday in London tomorrow and I am supposed to be driving !

Tell me about the depreciation ! 56k list price. Picked up mine for 46k being 3 months old with 600 miles on it.

8 months later was offered 31k on a trade in with 5000 miles on it

Rough calculation is its cost me £ 28 per mile in depreciation.

AUDI UK should be offering to buy me out of it at retail at the very minimum

Just FYI, the Motor Ombudsman rate is 42p per mile for usage.

So if you were to go through a formal rejection and win, the only reduction they can make is on that valuation.

"Price Paid minus xxxx miles at 42p per mile"

Depreciation doesn't factor in to a rejection. They will often shadow this by using the term 'Buy Back' to avoid legalities of a vehicle rejection and allows them to make sub standard offers which often a customer will take to avoid further stress. Remember the dealers get the VAT back on the sale when a car is returned, and the manufacturer will often reimburse them of any other costs if the car is inherently faulty, they will seldom be out of pocket, I found it to be more of an ego trip with the dealers.

My Q5 order on a blue light discount is a £68,7000 car for £56,000, minus the £11k vat, the car runs £45kish and the dealer is still making a profit on that.

As the dealer never called me back, I decided to have a go at putting the nubbin back myself. I found that if you keep the door closed, you can carefully guide it back in yourself, until it clicks in place. With the door open, it keeps popping out again. I don't know why Audi roadside couldn't do this, but so far it has been fine since. (Will probably pop out again now i've said that!)
