Audi fixed my actual rattle a few weeks ago but I still get some sort of creak/crack from the passenger door area randomly. It also randomly creaks when I’m not moving so not necessarily just from movement?. Do the plastics in the 8y just do this? It is getting colder but it also creaks in warm weather. Also only seems to come from passenger side so I Duno what it is. If the whole car did I I’d understand, my head is obviously close to the drivers side door so you’d think I’d also hear it on my side but I don’t really and just from passenger area

I've not had any issues with my 8Y saloon 2024 model (2023 build) after 18 months from new. I'm aware that others have experienced similar issues to you so not uncommon. Possibly related to the earlier build models? What year is yours?

Mines a 2023 black edition

My 2nd 8Y did something like that, I think there was some thermal expansion issue with the shiny black parts on the door frames. No idea how they are fitted so is it possible to do anything to them. I had several way worse rattle issues with that car so didn't bother that one.

Never noticed it in my first 8Y, neither in the current one but it's still so new that I can only be sure after a year.

It might be from the car flexing, last night I noticed a similar sound from the rear somewhere. Still annoying that a £45k Audi has plastic that makes noises whether it’s hot or cold. Also strange how it makes noises if I’m not moving as if the plastic is heating from being cold or vice versa? I don’t remember my old focus making noises lol

The boot lid lock mechanism seems to be another common place that causes popping sounds sometimes when going over a bump or the car is flexing. The lock counterpart seems to be very rigorous of its position, you could easily either have the boot lid closing badly or have the pops. My first piece had neither but the newer ones do. In this newest one I adjusted the counterpart alignment by myself since the lid needed quite a lot of force to get closed. Turned out the counterpart was aligned to a very low position, I moved it up and now the boot closes correctly but the pops also started. I think I should adjust it a little bit backwards. But it's a two minute job including collecting the tools so hard to get it started

Mines mostly just from the passanger door area. Makes the same type of sound when I push in parts of the door card plastics. But I don’t know if it’s the seat belt holder plastic bits, the window in the frame flexing or just the door card plastic creaking from movement. It’s annoying that it only really does it from the passenger area. I might not mind as much if I did it everywhere as I’d just think it’s normal.

When the climate control comes on, it makes a rattle sound around the door which is strange and seems like it starts to creak while driving when the climate comes on. I don’t see how that can be the cause as it’s not quick enough to heat up the plastics etc soon after coming on. Maybe a leaf or something is in the vent that goes from the door to dash

The passenger door has always had some noise in it on the 8Y - the FL is slightly better but it's still there - its from the storage area

Not necessarily, different tech inside the door card so different reinforcements and such.

And do you all also find the plastic randomly clicks and creaks? It did it in the hot weather so I thought fair enough as that’s quite hot, but it also does it now when the climate is on when it’s still say 10 degrees outside. I’m surprised the plastic in the car is so delicate to temps?

I seem to be getting a mixture of creaks from the passage side. One i think is the silver plastic bit above the glovebox where it says Quattro on the s3s or Audi on s3. One maybe from the plastic on door card (front by window air vent/door mirror area part creaks a bit when I press on it so might be that) and another that sounds like a window creaking in the rubber newer the seatbelt area but might not be. Not sure what else I can do now, spoiling the car for me lol but not sure how Audi would fix these ones. Don’t seem to get creaks in the other areas of the car that I’ve noticed.

They tried to fix the rattle that sounded like it came from the silver plastic above the glovebox but neither they or myself managed to find the right source. At last I took off lots of trim plastic parts, applied some felt and put them back, without any effect. My last guesses were something from the centre console or passenger door card but didn't want to tear apart those parts myself, and I was already out of warranty so I just let it be... and quite soon changed the car.

It’s so annoying and ruining my experience of the car. It’s probably something fairly simple too. I just don’t know why it’s only really the passenger front door area that does this. When I go round the areas touching bits I can’t see what’s causing it. It also probably is worse when the car is cold or hot in the summer, but it’s bad if Audi use plastics that are this sensitive to temperature? Unless that’s normal and can’t be helped on cars.

Mine wasn't temperature related, but also my first car didn't have that at all. Neither the current one.
