Picked up an S3 that’s been sat for 4/5 y

ears, so I need of a good level of tlc..

Lots of rusty suspension/arms etc front & rear..

Any recommendations of how best to tackle, do I find someone who’s breaking one & get the full rear suspension setup or is safer to take my time & go for new…

Or get dirty & wire brush parts to see what they look like under the rust?.

Not super handy with spanner, so will be paying some on for the big jobs?

All suggestions welcome pics of what I’m up against

So my mechanic had a mot cancellation yesterday & went to drive to S3 there.

He’s just called & said he refuses to drive it there as it was violently jerking while normal driving, which made it very difficult to drive..

Any advice.. it’s been sat for 4 years, so I’m thinking stale fuel & cruddy fuel filter..

I was thinking drain fuel & replace filter, new fuel???

It runs ok on idle, I’ve started it a fair few times & moved it around the unit, never on a road

Scan the car with vcds or obdeleven.

The jerking could be the haldex or misfiring, AMK detect misfiring and will also flash the EML.

Don't start changing parts until you get the tools to scan it.

Thanks.. will get an odbeleven and see what it shows up.

So scanned car, it was showing misfire on cyl 2 & 3, so have replaced all coils.. still got this horrible jerk under boost, which I assume maybe the N249 failing? Any thoughts!!! Will be deleting it tomorrow to see if that helps…

Some of the codes below

Might still have a misfire. Hard to tell with the jerk when driving…

This pipe has a hole in it, so have ordered a silicone replacement, assuming that would cause a bunch of problems, also what type of issues would a bank 1 O2 sensor cause?

Sounds very much like coil packs, the old 1.8T was notorious for them failing and I can't imagine sitting for 4 years has helped.

Thanks for dropping a line.. coil packs have been replaced & still running like crap

Update.. TIP replaced, how still running like poo.

Done another smoke test & the crank breather main pipe is leaking.. so ordered a billet one some silicone pipes off it, hoping that will be the end of the vacuum leaks..

Asked before, but not had much response.. Has anyone else experience so many vacuums leak & poor running.. & has replacing what I’m about too, made all the difference?

So after replacing the pcv system with new pipes & billet crank case adapter , still running like crap.. no vacuum leaks as per smoke test. So think I’m
Good there.

Ran VCDS & the top P0237 won’t clear, have ordered a new Bosh boost Sensor..

Just seeing if anyone else has come across these codes & sorted
