Well it's fast approaching that time again, the third time for me! I reckon it was around 55K and 4 years or more ago, that I had them last done; at the same time I had the KMB hex/balance shaft upgrade. I'll probably go back to https://straightlineperformance.co.uk/ since they did such a great job of both, including fitting a helicoil insert for the idler shaft (a common 2.0 TDI fail). The timing is spot on - I've never measured torsion values but idling is even and through all gears smooth. No water leaks neither.
But I was looking at Stafford Audi's website and they say pre 2009 Audis 4 years for for a Cambelt/water pump change. Whereas common wisdom has always been, I understood 5 years. The thing is the service book say 80,000 miles with no time span specified. And now VW have dispensed with time limits entirely. It seems it was only here in the UK that the 5 year thing was common. No where and I believe too in Erwin, was there ever a time limit specified?
