Hello.
I would appreciate if anyone could help with an issue on my sons 2019 A7 sound system. There is an intermittent fault where the radio loses sound to the speakers. next time you drive the car, the speakers work for a short time and then the sound goes off again. Could it be the amplifier unit that is faulty. If so, does anyone know where is is and where I could get it repaired or buy a new one.
The MMI shows the radio is working and you can turn up the volume but still no sound from the speakers. Start the car the following day and everything works again for a short while and then the sound goes off again.
Would appreciate your thoughts please.
Cheers
Logan

We've had exactly the same issue with the same era A6 (2015 facelift)

Do you have the Bose system or standard?
If standard, in our case, it was the amplifier but as it was the standard, it was the MMI headunit itself that had the issue.

What we did ironically was buy a second-hand one from an A7 which had to then be configured (component protection, SVM etc) and the faceplates swapped as the A7 had the spoiler button which of course is useless to the A6.
Once back in, worked perfectly ... for about 6 months and then that unit had the same issue.

This time, we sent the unit off to a repair specialist (on UK ebay listing ID 275493530148) for exactly this type of issue - less than a week later, we had it shipped back to us repaired. All I know is it was a solder fix. Been fine ever since.

From memory, his full time job was this because so many were having issues

Hope this helps!

Hi.
Thanks for your response, much appreciated. I think it has the standard radio fitted but will check when my son returns home from work. Reading from other threads, it sounds like the A7 has an amplifier is in the boot, drivers side behind the trim. Need special tooling to pop the studs which will apparently break off if you try prizing them with a screwdriver. Also note it seems to be a common problem as there are many threads regarding this issue. The A7 dash looks like something from a modern fighter jet and I would not have a clue how to remove to check anything and not willing to touch it. Everything is digital touch screen, beautiful but scary at the same time! Kevin has told me that he has a current warranty with the car so he is going to contact them and see what they have to say.
Will update the thread when problem is resolved which might help others facing the same problem.
