Hi there,

I have the standard Christmas tree effect of faults, starting with TPMS, ACC, etc. on my S3. I'm presuming that it is one of the wheel rotation
sensors that has gone.

But, using a number of the off the shelf scanning apps, it is not telling me which wheels sensor is faulty.

Any idea on how I can find out which exact sensor has gone ?

Thanks, Roy.

VCDS will tell you if you can get access to it.

Thanks. I think I had it about 4 pcs ago, but don't anymore.

Want site if one of the phone apps could do it at all?
Only one I’ve used with the phone is OBD 11, very similar to VCDS but more user friendly.

and, looks like the car has stopped doing it now and has gone back to normal. Hmmmmm
A wheel speed sensor will do that. I have OBDEleven and that will tell you which sensor it is. Scanning your car for faults will bring up all of your faults but they will have a time stamp for each one so if you locate the one with the earliest trigger to the seconds it will point to the cause of the multiple follow ons. Only use well known reputable sensors to prevent recurrence.

Does OBDEleven actually tell you which sensor has gone ? I've scanned the car with a couple of the other scan tool apps and there are no error codes listed for speed sensors even when the car was faulting.

Yes it will. It is a very capable tool and similar in abilities to VCDS but you only need your phone (iPhone or anndroid) and dongle. To change coding etc you will need a pro plan but for diagnostics you don’t.

Thanks that's very useful. I'll go check it out.

Shame, as when I had a S3 and a TT I had full VCDS. But then had a kid and changed the cars. I've now got a S3 back, but a good number of laptops later don't have VCDS anymore.

I bought it when my wife had the Xmas tree display to sort the fault out. I had the lifetime pro account which they don’t offer anymore, now it’s an annual subscription. I’ve scanned over a dozen cars for friends and family and made alterations to the coding as I’ve learnt more about it. I’ve got a fl S3 8V and recently coded in a new battery, audible lock/unlock, 5 flashes on comfort indicators, coded out the start/stop, although I now use a loom for this as it gives me options to use it if I need to.
You could download the OBDEleven VAG app and have a look at the format of it, bottom right of the opening page and select the 3 dots will show all the supported vehicles.

Just following up on this. I had my friendly local audi specialist scan the car with VCDS and it's the rear drivers ABS Speed sensor that's faulty. Getting it replaced shortly.

Also, got Carista and scanned it with that and it brought nothing up. However spoke with their technical support and they told me there was a problem with my Bluetooth ODB2 adaptor. I bought the Carista EVO adaptor and it worked perfectly.

It brought it the exact same screens you showed above.

Amazing how one of those sensors can effect so many systems in the car. Does seem a bit extreme considering that there are still 3 others fully working.

It’s one of those things where you need to buy a genuine sensor too…..
