Hi, I have a 2025 six month old A3 TFSI E S-Line with the Technology Pack (not the Technology Pack Pro). It has adaptive cruise control which is brilliant. Before I had this car my Golf VIII used to have VW's Travel Assisst which did the same thing but kept the car centred in the lane. This was great on longer drives and very relaxing, it really steered for me so long as I kept my hands on the wheel (although it did beep after a few secs sometimes!). I'd like something similar on my Audi.

According to ChatGPT it's called 'Active Lane Assist' on the Audi. Does anybody know if it's possible for me to enable it with ODBEleven or similar or would I need new hardware for this? Thanks for your time.

Mark.

Post facelift cars are all locked up, you can't do anything to them with OBD11. But check the functions on demand shop, if it's possible without hardware upgrade it should be available there. For me it's not showing but it might need the sat nav which I don't have so can't say for sure.

In the 'Audi Functions Store' the only things I can buy are 'high-beam assist', 'audi themes' and 'tolltickets'. Ah well, at least it's not boinging at me all the time like my Golf did! Everything else is great too...

Thanks for your reply.

Have you got the button on the end of the indicator stalk? This enables it.

Or just disables the lane keeping assitant. AFAIK all cars have that as one of the mandatory "safety" features, it only prevents you from departing the lane by mistake when you're just about to touch the lane line, but the Active Lane Assist should keep the car in the center of the lane. Maybe the button toggles between the lane keeping assistant, active assist and off, if your car has that option.

Holding down the button on the end of the indicator stalk for a few seconds definitely turns off the lane keeping assist, I do that frequently on rougher roads.

Normally the lane keeping assist stops me going outside the lane but it can 'bounce' from one side of the lane to the other, not the image I want to convey! I'm not at the car now but will check to see if pushing the button once does anything.

I've got the basic setting which I've seen referred to in the US as 'Active Lane Departure Warning' but don't have the additional 'Lane Guidance/Active Lane Assist' which centres in the lane. The terminology used seems to be different sometimes which makes it a little confusing. The one for centering will show some extra green 'markers' on the lane lines and I believe should also be a setting in the MMI under Driver Assistance/Adaptive Cruise Assist/Lane Guidance (or something similar).

I just checked earlier and the button on the end stalk of mine simply turns on and off the 'Active Lane Departure Warning' with a long press.

It sounds like a good feature for long motorway journeys but with my driving I doubt I would need it anyway so no big loss.

Your car sounds exactly like mine Simon50s, same functionality of the button on the stalk. There doesn't seem to be anything like that in my Adaptive Cruise Assist menu so my car probably doesn't have the feature. It doesn't seem like it's possible to 'turn it on' using ODB11 either, according to JKP earlier in this thread.

I had to get used to steering myself again after having the feature in the Golf but it's definitely a first world problem! It did used to be annoying that the Golf would beep if you didn't keep a firm enough grip on the steering wheel (some called it a 'death grip') so at least I don't have that problem.
