I'm having an ongoing problem with my air suspension, the brackets that hold the rear level sensors on are very rusty and weak so I have asked 2 garages to change them. Both garages have made up excuses not todo the job as it appears to be fairly involved. has anyone had this job done?

Any pics of the brackets & location, some are in a pita area tbh, but work is work.

Did you sort the sensors?
2 Garages have managed to wriggle out of changing them by temporarily fixing them, the light is back on again no so it looks like its time to change them which looks like a subframe off job so I'm currently saving up for it lol

Urmmm let me look into it mate as I've taken on jobs like this & there maybe a way to change without dropping, no promises but I'll check over Elsa later, just fighting a bug ATM so maybe slow in reply.

Appreciated bud, it looks like it would be a nightmare to access without dropping the subframe I would imagine that's the easiest way and I really want to keep this job down in cost as I've sunk a fortune into the car in the past 12 months!

Late to the party (so to speak) on this one, but we had rear sensor issues on our Allroad. The passenger side one had snapped one of the plastic linkages and we were quoted around £800 for a repair to both sides. Audi only seem to sell them as a complete unit for £175 each, but I managed to get both sides for £175 new of eBay.

Now the problem as you've alluded too is that to replace the complete unit you have to remove the upper suspension bolt. Not fancying that job, I removed the new sensor off the bracket and then removed the old one and replaced it that way.

However, on one side I couldn't get one of the screws out, so left the original sensor and just replaced the plastic linkage and lower mounting bracket. And it all worked.

Having gone through this process, if it happened again I would look to buy some cheap eBay copies (£20 a pair) and see if I could just use only the black plastic linkage and the lower mounting bracket.
In the broken one shown, the lower bracket ball joint had seized, so for a bit preventive maintenance, I would suggest easing the plastic cup off the steel ball and cleaning both sides and using some silicone grease to reduce any further corrosion.

Nice job a very easy repair if you don't need to replace the hanging bracket, a very complicated repair if you do
