2015 A6 Allroad facelift 200kw 3.0 CRTD
okies, so it has been many years since I last posted on here, i guess that's the result of trouble free motoring. Other than standard wear and tear items I have had only 1 issue with the road barge and that was the tiny little droplink rod snapping on the rear nearside ride height sensor thingmy bob, bolts wouldn't come out, so i just replaced the 3" long rod and job was a guddun.
Until now...so, front oil seal is defo leaking, a mate popped it up on his lift, took underside cover off and you can see it leaks oil. The other thing/issue, I top up with water roughly once a month with aprox a pop can of water, my bud says there is a sign of water above the crankshaft seal, so a bad pump aswell. so i called to a reccomended indy garage and been quoted £1600 the majority of which is labour has the whole front end has to come off to complete the work. I do have a pretty good relationship with my audi dealer so i called in and as you can imagine their labour bill is more than the indy bill before you add any parts, £220/hour for a/ diagnosis and b/ carrying out the work if my mate has indeed made the right diagnosis himself. However.. the audi technician says he's unaware the water pumps go bad and it's more likely a coolant regulator problem.
Has anyone got any input on this, anything I can check myself before i go handing 1/6th of the cars value on repairs, I'de really appriciate it.
