Add some spam protection

I've reported a few lately too. I used to admin a Civic Forum, we had great success range banning the first two parts of IP's. Nothing good ever came out of Indian, Pakistani, or Vietnam IP's

Yeah really bad recently! More spam posts/threads nowadays than actual genuine stuff

Appreciate you flagging them, unfortunately it's their latest link building tactics. Our anti spam is up and running the place would be a sea of spam if it ever goes down

The spam is getting a bit out of control now I must agree.
I've been dealing with loads daily and had 314 to spam out this afternoon alone that had just bombarded several forums.

Surely there must be another way to block them.

Time to maybe approve all new memberships? I get it, it adds a manual step but it would stop alot of the hassle.

Where are they coming from? The ones ive reported in the past appeared to be Russian. I doubt this forum has many, if any, genuine Russian members. Is there not an IP Range ban function in the Admin panel? On Civinfo I used to ban the first 2 sections of an Ip and add an asterix. eg; 82.11* Certainly worked for us against the PK, IN, VT spammers.

Now manually approving Darren. That should keep me busy for a while. Have a great weekend Darren
