So I am trying to get my wheels aligned.

Been to a local garage 3 times.

1st time they gave it back to me with the ride / grip feeling better, but the steering wheel pointing 40 degrees to the left.

2nd time, steering wheel back to somewhat straight, but still off to the right by 5 degrees or so, and car pulling to the left. (This is why I took it in, in the first place)

3rd time slightly less to the right and still pulling to the left.

So you all know I'm not mental. I am lining the steering wheel up with the stalks inside and also taking note of my hands if they are noticeably higher on one side.

Is there a knack to alignment or can someone share some specs which I can get somewhere else to aim for?

They mentioned about my alloys as the design had a lip which would out the alignment sensors further out from the wheel.

I am at a loss as to how to get this driving straight. And help would be great

I would igone with option one then adjusted the steering wheel position on the column.

I'd rather that this was sorted at the track rods, maybe check the steering wheel position when fully CW and then when fully CCW, the centre position between the two limits should leave the steering wheel offset where you say it is now if it is just the track rod adjustment/correction is wrong.

If not then ideally you should get a full four wheel alignment check carried out to check that the issue is not elsewhere.

Yeah I will check the limits in each direction.

I have had it 4 wheel aligned now, 3 times and they can't get it right..

Shouldnt be this hard to get it tracking true.

It's been a long standing thing, I had it checked out last year when I had my service done (at another garage) no worn components so it's not that..

do you have electronic steering as the steering wheel can be adjusted using vcds

That is a revelation, I may get it booked it at a local garage and get them to centre/adjust it

All facelift (i.e. B8.5) cars were fitted with electric steering.

Strangely, I haven't seen that option, where did you see that?

Think VCDS can only recalibrate steering angle sensor. Alignment is a mechanical process with tie rod adjustment. in addition, the B8 has multi link suspension, upper arms and lower arms, and sometimes need visual inspection on bushes.

Yeah I didn't think I'd missed a trick but happy to be proved wrong.

So update

Managed to reset the steering angle sensor G85 via a obd2 scanner.

Initially threw a sterling malfunction but needed to hold it in each lock for aboit 5 seconds for it to quit whining.

Will find out on the commute if the steering is 1. Centred and 2. Stops going to the left.

Failing either of those it's Alignment at another shop or visit to a garage
