Just thought id share this with you! I drove from Newquay to Plymouth and back (about 80 miles) on Friday night and drove like a granny to see what mpg i could get.

I never did more than 55mph never took it over 2500rpm and i managed 44mpg average! It was nearly 50mpg but there are loads of hills coming back into Newquay so it dropped a bit.

Not bad eh! My car has been running spot on since i got my Stage 2 Revo. Highly recommended

Heh! I regularly see high 30s, and occasional low 40s on a 'Miss Daisy' cruise-control-at-68-avoids-speed-taxation run to my folks in the Lakes. Soon drops back below 30 when I get there on the little twisty ones though...

    Cheers,

I wouldn't always rely on the dis, i would be amazed if you can do 44 miles out of £6 (v power £1.20ltr)
    1 ltr = 0.21 imperial gallons
    5 ltrs = 1.09 imperial galloons
    £1.20 x 5ltrs = £6

heavy foot mate, and also took slight detour on one of the UK's most dangerous roads 'snakes pass' :) although i free wheeled the last 4-5-6 miles downhill to get my mpg back up...oh and stopped at a local track on the way to check the top speed - 140mph (fastest ive ever been!!) and still had some left :)

The S3 is appalling in town and short journeys, but on motorways and long empty stretches of road I can easily see 30+ mpg in real world figures.

Took the 2Tdi family estate to the lakes. Went Manchester-Birmingham-Lakes-Birmingham-Manchester in one weekend, 70 quid in fuel, 49mpg.

Came back and was pleased to see 20 on mine!!

    So this Stage 2 Revo....

You have an air filter fitted, milltek and DV, FPR?

How do you find it? Did you get it on the rollers?

Just FYI, most remapped S3's will have a way off MPG figure on the DIS, as no tuner is that clever(or have the time of day shall I say) enough to recalibrate your MPG reading against your new map. My S3 tells me I'm getting 27.9mpg constantly(when I can read it), but in reality, it gets 22mpg around town, 25mpg mix and 30mpg+ on the motorway depending on what speed I'm doing, using brim to brim figures.

surely if your running standard injectors and fuel pressure why would there be a need for this? I always thought it was spot on until you change injectors.

I did read that you can adjust MPG on vagcom from 85-115% though

To get more power, the injector cycle would be different to standard, and a remap doesn't recalibrate your fuel consumption readings...

Very sceptical you could get that mpg on a decent length of drive. Wouldn't ever believe the DIS either, it always overstates the true mpg. The ONLY way to calculate it is brim to brim tank fill and a calculator.

Wish my Focus RS got the same MPG as you guys in the S3's... 200 miles form £60 of v-power seems about right...

think my 1.8 sport 8L must only do about 30 mpg and i drive that like an old man

I might calculate it manually to see how accurate the dis is then...

Mine does 30+ around town if i dont take it over 3k rpm

Not had it on the rollers yet but would like to. I got a stage 1 first which made it 100% better to drive. Then got the forge 007, piperx panel air filter, 4 bar fuel pressure regulator and milltek cat back exhaust fitted and got a stage 2 upgrade. Didnt make as big a difference as going from stock to stage 1 but certainly felt a lot better. Gives you a nice kick in the back when the turbo kicks in :)

I had 160 out of mine on GPS then ran out of (my private) road!

I thought that to get the best out of a stage 2 you'd need a downpipe? Therefore removing further restriction to the exhaust gases, and possibly (debatable) a FMIC to aid in air temperatures? This would make sense to me before i would even think of stage 2. Stage 3 then would be Turbo, maybe cats and a further map to get the most out of the new turbo.

    Am i wrong?

44 is nice. The most I've got is 35mpg on the motorway in my 1.6. That wasn't at 55mph, or 70 for that matter though.
