02Q Gearbox Codes compatibility

Hi all,

I have a 2011 Audi TT Quattro tdi with a 02Q Gearbox, code NFM. Engine code CFGB.

I need a replacement gearbox and have seen KXY models listed for sale. Does anyone know if these boxes are interchangeable? I have seen them mostly fitted on the CBBB engine, but have seen some listed on the CFGB engine. Was unsure if there would be any differences with bellhousings etc.

The KXY gearbox is very similar to the NFM. Both are 02Q gearboxes used with 2.0 TDI engines like CFGB and CBBB. The bellhousing should be the same, so it will physically fit.


However, gear ratios may be different, and it’s important to check the driveshaft flanges and mounts to confirm they match your TT.


In general, it should fit, but I recommend confirming part numbers or asking a gearbox specialist to be 100% sure.
