Why do some 8Ys seem to have dual USB-C sockets in the rear of the centre console while others just have the 12v cigarette lighter type socket?

I've definitely seen PFLs with the USB sockets. Maybe some markets had them on the PFL whereas we didn't.

EDIT: Yeah, here you go. UK review of the original 8Y from WhatCar but clearly not a UK model as it's LHD but has the USB sockets in the back (5m44s in). Why on earth would they have them in some markets but not others, surely that's just an additional variation that costs more money?

No USB's in the rear of my 2023 S3 either, just the 12v. Mine has the tech pack pro too, thought they might have been included with that pack, but clearly not.

At least in some countries they were an individual option at first, and at very first they were USB-A ones. They might also connect to the storage pack. Or could be related to parts shortage caused by covid and war.
Do you have nets on the backs of the front seats?

Also howcome some cars come with a climate mixer dial on the rear vents but some don’t? Is that a Europe vs uk car thing?

Yes I do. It's a Vorsprung so if that doesn't have the USB sockets, nothing did

Ok. Then I'd blame the covid...

I think there are 2 and 3 zone climate controls out there for 8Y, the 3rd zone adds the rear mixer. How that keeps up with the trim levels I don't know. Looks like the UK options policy is almost lottery.

Is it easy to remove rear USB panel?
The reason I'm asking is the left one works fine but the right one as stopped charging.

We had these in our 2020 and 2022 Edition 1's but no controls for the vents

The vent part comes off just by pulling hard, might need some careful loosening but it's got just clips holding it in place. There's a duct behind it that comes off with the visible part. Looks like you could access the USB ports and wirings if you remove it.

The Launch Edition RS3 Sportback that I test drove had two USB-C's in the back - sadly my Vorsprung delivered 23 months later just had the 12v socket

I've got a LHD mid-trim level saloon 2024 model pre-facelift. No power sockets in the rear, just the air vents. There's two USB C slots in the front console.
