Hi everyone,

I’m wondering about getting my 2017 A4 Allroad 3L diesel tuned, but know that the tiptronic gearboxes on these are a bit fragile and don’t handle much extra torque.

Could someone let me know what is the best I could expect in the way of power/torque, without destroying the gearbox/clutches please, and also any recommendations of who to go to?

Many thanks

You’ve been misinformed. 3.0 TDI (218ps) is S tronic 7-speed box. The (272ps) version uses 8-speed ZF Tiptonic which is solid unit. No idea regards custom maps, but if it were me, then find an experienced team such as Darkside Developments in Barnsley. On S tronic units then they need service every 38k miles. Might be worth speaking to your insurance first. Power upgrades effect premiums.

Hi.
If you have any issues with insurance as all then please feel free to drop me a line.
Regards,
Dan.

Just to add to this the clutch pack in DL382-7Q gearbox is a lot weaker than the old DL501, personally wouldn't recommend tuning it.
