I got my first RS car this week, a Nardoo Grey 2016 Sportback RS3, MRC Stage 2. Love the car.
But what possessed Audi to make the rings in the dash vents pink ? Such a clean interior and they are ugly af. Are the originally Red and fade ? Red wouldn't be as ugly I guess.

I've seen various coloured stick on rings inc Piano black and Carbon on Ali express, I think they just stick over the pink do they do the job of without looking cheap ?
Any other options people can recommend ? I'm generally against stick on tat but I think they need to go (change my mind if you think i'm wrong)

I forget what it was called, but the interiod appearance pack gave you the red vents as an option.

Personally I much prefer the standard black vents.

I guess it's a case as you say of they've faded, whether they were original spec or someone added some aftermarket versions afterwards (which if poorer quality could explain the pink).

I'd see about getting some regular non red ones in there, much nicer :)

Thanks, So do I need to replace ethe whole vent do you think, or just the ring ? If they are aftermarket the ring should pull off in theory but I don't want to break them.

A quick google and there's videos on how to remove the vent trims, depends if you can buy just the trim on it's own or not.

Silly me, they are some cheapo chinesium aftermarket stick on things. I just ripped them off, so much better ...

Wonder what possessed someone to fit them.

Red vents were part of the optional Rs design pack. As you can see mine haven’t faded at all during several years.

Result! IMHO red vents are ok if you have red stitching but as you have the rock grey stitching it is black and silver all the way :icon thumright:

I believe the Audi Q2 gloss back air vents will fit also.. Having the outer ring black as opposed to A3 silver.

They were probably red when they were fitted, I had some on my S3 but the anodising faded to pink so swapped them for blue ones. The interior needed some colour but it's definitely a personal thing

Red rings came with the Design Pack as mentioned earlier, including “Crescendo Red” detailing to the seat stitching, seat belts and nicer floor mats. The pack is also meant to come with knee pads in Alcantara to the centre console. However some options seem to have been available individually, since certainly mine has black vent rings and no knee pads - but does have the other items.

So your car has red edge seatbelts also and red stitching on doorcards..? I wasn’t aware you could spec individual items . Thought they came as one design pack.?

You could purchase all the items from the dealers yourself and retrofit them like i did. As I had Super Sport seats in red from factory.. !!

There were differences in what was available from PFL to FL and also things changed when you added the design pack to the extended upholstery pack.

Is that a genuine airbag cover? Aftermarket ones have been known not to rip correctly on deployment, never fancied 4 rings embedded on my forehead :astonished:

Yes I did have same concerns as you stated. But the air-bag covers are made from original oem materials. And do not interfere with the airbag safety deployment.

When comparing the 2 side, they appear to be the same, even 4 rings are same as the original. But I appreciate your concern though.

Red stitching to seats, gear selector & wheel, red detailing to seatbelts, and (?) slightly nicer mats with logo. But no knee pads or vent inserts, so presumably not the full RS Design Pack… but they don’t look retrofitted either. It’s a late July 2016 car with high spec, one of the last PFLs.
