Plastic cracks from around door/pillar area

So Noones got any idea of what else this could be then? I’ve tried cleaning the seals and using sonax on it but still seems the same. It’s been to Audi a few times too so it’s nothing too obvious. Just sounds like the window flexing in the door but it also rattles sometimes and sounds like the dash rattling so I want it fixed

One more suggestion. There's an access hatch at the back of the glovebox. Put some felt to the rim of it. I think it's one of the pretty common rattle sources and also easy to fix. The rattle sounds like it comes from the air vents.

I did try driving with the glovebox open to see if the sound got louder and also pressed in on the hatch before but don’t think that made a difference. The fact it doesn’t make the sound with the windows down means it must be something to do with the window/door. So annoying

You need to go back to Audi as the car is still under warranty and insist they take a look at the window motor etc inside the door

To be honest you've not been happy since you got this car as you have put up lots of things you've found with the car that annoy you and I don't think you'll ever be happy with it, so might be the time to negotiate getting into a facelift model for the right price obviously

Or change the brand. Not easy though, it seems like if you're after a new car that's approximately the same size and driving dynamics as the S3 the alternative options are near zero. Benz is even more overpriced and an outgoing model and afaik it also tends to have rattle problems (on top of the other ones).

My service is due around October so might get it looked at then, it’s hard to pin point it though and doesn’t always do it.

It keeps throwing me off, I’m sure it’s the window from the sound it makes and when I have the windows down a bit it doesn’t seem to do it, but I was pressing in on various parts of the door and window on my way to work but that doesn’t stop the noise. So I really don’t know what it is unless the actual window is loose inside the door or on the rails . When I had the similar noise in winter, I’m sure the noise stopped when I pressed on the door/window
Did you check the spot I mentioned in my previous post ? It’s very hard to decern exactly where these rattles are coming from when driving yourself, I had the wife drive mine while I went around the trim, the little bit of material I added did fix this particular one, but it’s disappointing that we have to do this **** in the first place!
I had a 2019. 8V from new and it was like a bank vault, did 150,000kms. And it nvr rattled, this 8y is a different story though

The rattle is coming from the window or glove box area. I do sometimes get a rattle from around the steering wheel though, but I can tell this noise is coming from the passanger side somewhere. Driving me mad

I know, it really takes away from the whole experience of the car, if the rattle from around the steering wheel persists, try what I did, it may help

Other than the compartment inside the glovebox that some people say can rattle (mine seems secure and doesn’t stop the rattle when I press on it so I don’t think it’s that) is there anything else around the passenger dash side that has been known to rattle? I’m trying to eliminate things

Is it normal for the window to wobble/move a bit when you close the car doors with the window a quarter or half down? Also the window feels a bit wobbly when I touch it when it’s down a bit. It does it on all 4 doors so I guess it’s normal? I’ve been out there today trying to see if I can work out where it might be rattling from but I can’t see anything other than that

Yes, the windows do move slightly when they're down

Thanks, as all 4 doors do the same, I’m sure it’s normal then. I’m just trying eliminate this stupid rattle, I can’t work out where it’s coming from. I’m sure it doesn’t do it when the windows are fully down. But it does sound like it’s coming from the glove box area but that might be sound reflecting. It’s been looked at a few times by audi and they said they tightened the window regulator or something inside the door in case that was loose. Not sure what else to try

Might sound stupid, but I had a rattle on one of my cars around the seatbelt area - Turned out to be the rear seat was rattling when it locked back and they had to do something to stop this

I’ve noticed that the curved plastic trim that runs from the bottom of door upto the side of glovebox rattles when I wriggle it, but not sure if that’s the rattle when driving

That was one of the spots I went through with my previous car when I was trying to locate the rattle. I took the plastic part off and added some felt to the contacting inner surfaces just to find out it's wasn't the rattle source.

Does anyone have a link to how to open the side panel of the glovebox where there is a AC duct flange going into the door (RHD car here in australia) and the door card removal ? really want to see if I can find the source of an intermittent rattle.

No link but I've done that too. The front edge just pops out, there are few claws at the A pillar side that slide behind the pillar trim. But that wasn't the source of my rattle either... I have a bad feeling it's the same one bothering several owners. And if it is, the Audi dealers should be aware of the source by now.

Cars booked in at Audi again to look at the window rattle. I’m pretty sure now that it’s from the door/window as the rattle isn’t there when the window is down all the way. Not sure what else they can do though as they’ve looked at it before. It’s got to be either the window rattling in the frame or the seals. Just not sure they’ll do anything

Been to Audi and im getting the door seal replaced. Hopefully this fixes it

Got my rattle fixed now it seems. Audi said it was running on something where the door meets the vent hole in the side of the glove box and also the glove box light might have been rattling so has been Insulated. I’ve still got a bit of a creak from the passenger window near top left ,I’m assuming from the rubbers but that’s a different issue and might just be how things are when the car flexes etc? Is this normal?
