Niggly issues thread

As a matter of interest how many miles have you stuck on your cars and over what period ?

Just trying to compare problems with mileage / duration for when I speak to Audi Uk

2920miles, Bought it in March 2025. It been in and out of the dealer more times than I had it. In fact I borrow my parent's car more as I don't trust it.

I will know more on Monday when Audi UK calls me.

2920? Wow I thought mine was low but on the plus side i'm within the 10k per year I agreed to. I really hope your experience with Audi UK was as good as mine.

Contrary to the title of this thread, today has been the first day that the car has no issues in a long time. Its worthy of note.

Mine hasn’t. Alarm went off twice this morning at 6am. It’s like it knew I had to get up for work and didn’t want me to forget.

Cruise control doesn’t work again today…………..

Missed Audi UKs call as well. Ringing me back TUESDAY.

Probably due to the number of A5 and A6 owners in the list that need speaking to

I'm almost glad mine went wrong in the spring, I had their undivided attention!

my boot only opened a 1/4 of the way today, had to close it and reopen it again for it to fully reopen.

Mine does that 90% of the time. Just press the button again and it will open. Audi said there was nothing wrong but I beg to differ.

Mine started doing that after it went it for cruise control fix

I only noticed because i banged my head on it and i thought that’s not fully open and when i closed it it went with more of a slam than a soft close

So manually opened it wider and then held the button for 4-5 seconds till it beeped which resets the opening distance.

Didn’t work, did it a few times. I gave up.

Then opened it one day and voila worked as intended.

Another fault in my opinion. It worked flawlessly with my last A5 B9.5 sportback

If your cruise control doesn’t work

Get out of the car.

Open and close all 4 doors and voila. It springs into life.

This is why mine suddenly started working when I went to London as I had wife and two kids in the car and hence all open and closed. Did the same on the way back and worked perfectly.

The day after when I went out in it after the alarm went off at 6am it refused to work.

Just been the tip and had the car loaded up and all 4 doors open and I thought I will just try it and get presto

Drove home locked the car and did get this flag up though

Even though it was fully closed and locked.

I wondering if this is related to the alarm going off as it thinks a doors open when it isn’t.

Chased Audi UK as not had a phone call from the customer relation manager this afternoon, they are waiting on Canterbury Audi to call back with car availability. I have reiterated to them that they have one final attempt to resolve, After that they are buying it back.

My first initial call is due with them tomorrow

If you do get what you want (buy back) what you thinking of getting. Cos I am stumped

I kind of painted myself in the corner with the A3. Unless I go a class up in size, I have no clue where to look next. At least I haven't got issues worth bringing up with my current car so looks like I'll happily keep it for a while, after which the market will most likely be very different.

But if I was to get a new car class above right now I'd go straight for the BMW 3-series. Soon outgoing model so the issues should be well sorted out and the interior's still got pretty solid quality and traditional layout. Which certainly won't be the case with the upcoming one. However, it might feel a little cramped compared to A5.

I honestly don't have a clue what I would get if I can get a buy back from Audi. This is the reason why I have given them one last chance before I go down this route. BMW don't really excite unless it a M range. I don't like Mercedes as I think quality is not great but then this Audi isn't.

If they could guarantee that KD3 would be on the replacement A5 I might be happy, Not sure though.

Merc's current interior design with ambient disco lights and weird-shaped ugly seats also turn me off.

So I go out to clear ice off the windscreen this morning and EML lit up again

Now I have totally had it with this car as much as I like it. It has to go.

Spoke with Audi UK and they have initiated a buy back. However they tell me that this is not with Audi UK and with the dealer

So I am just waiting on some convoluted deal that they will present to me to get me out the car. No idea if it’s a straight forward buy back or partial refund or involves another vehicle. Either way I assume it will cost me money

Time will tell but I am done ! Worst experience of a purchase ever made.

And I thought my car was bad. That's the one light I have not had. Yet. Hope the process goes smoothly, but knowing dealers, it won't.

I've yet gone out to my car and started it to check. I'm little apprehensive too.

I'm waiting for Audi UK to call me today. I bet I got to chase them again.

Just a slight niggle today. Whilst driving wearing gloves I noticed the MMi works fine, but the controls on the drivers door armrest dont work, unless you take them off. Cheers Audi!

Oh the bliss of capacitive controls in cars! I'm sure that's not just an Audi related gremlin. At least capasitive controls in many cars need so refined touches that you simply can't perform them with gloves. In Audi it's ridiculous since they are a common sponsor in many winter sports.

Remember that The Motor Ombudsman rate is 42p per mile for usage, nothing more, nothing less.

The dealer will probably offer you a sub rate buy back deal and threaten you with 'going to the TMO if you are not satisfied', knowing that the wait time is currently two years plus.

However as you have the support of Audi UK, it may be more favourable, and I hope it is I wouldn't wish anyone but Trump and Netanyahu to go through what I did with Mazda with a rejection.

I kind of painted myself in the corner with the A3. Unless I go a class up in size, I have no clue where to look next. At least I haven't got issues worth bringing up with my current car so looks like I'll happily keep it for a while, after which the market will most likely be very different.

I was tempted with an 340D...but the screen layout means that I have to stretch to use it and move out of the seat, which sondering most functions are built into it now, it would have been an absolute PITA. The X340D's are still so expensive and feel very dated inside. The one saving grace of the new Audi Screentastic design is that its curved so easily accesed from a normal sitting position. I was going to go with an A5, but the Q5 is pretty much the same size and more comfortable to get in and out.

The Merc C class is really nice, but if you're tall, you may have the same problem as I do. The transmission tunnel curves into the footwell a LOT, so for a tall person to rest their foot/leg you have to turn it in diagonally towards the brake pedal - i noticed how sore I was after half an hour and realised thats why I was uncomfortable, couldn't do that for hours.

There just aren't any cars that excite me anymore..I wish I could go back to my A3 Saloon 8V three years ago, worse mistake I ever made selling that.

As Audi Uk customer relation manager not communicated with me since Monday and was meant to call me on Tuesday just went, I have spoken to Audi Finance and now started the rejection proceedings, they are fully aware of the situation that is ongoing at the moment with Audi. Now waiting for a call back from them as to next steps.

Looks like the BMW screen layout is the same for both LHD and RHD cars, which is ridiculous - I truly see your point. Of course the setup should be mirrored according to handedness to place the most important touch spots closest to the driver, curved or flat screen. Audi seems to have gotten that right, too.

For me, when speaking of interiors of the cars that are still sold as new, dated tends to mean "not yet destroyed by the cost cuttings"...

I didn't actually think about that regarding the layout, but that makes sense that it could have added to the issue for me. I found that the actual screen being too far away as I have to have the seat all the way back. The CX60 was similar, but as it had a rortrary controller and buttons for everything, I never used the touch screen, the 3 series didn't have buttons, and the ones it did have would bring up menus on the screen, similar to the new X3.

Yeah I get what you mean regarding interior quality, but I would suggest sitting in the older X3, it feels OLD, not in a good way either, but the car feels and drives like an actual premium vehicle, unlike the new one. I drove a new 2.0D X3 for a drive and despite the seat being probably the best I have ever sat in, I could feel the wheels turning through the steering wheel like a PEUGEOT. I think thats one area Mazda does excel, their interiors are top shelf, modern and timeless. Stepping out of the CX60 into the LCI X3 felt like going backwards.

In the end I had to swallow the Q5's questionable interior because the actual refinement was excellent, and air suspension could be specced. Really, I'd prefer a F Pace HSE with the 3.0D V6 as the interior I personally think is the best there is, but difficult to get now they have stopped making them and questionable reliability. This will be the last time I ever get to buy a brand new car, so the Q5 fits the bill for longevity.

Still waiting on the sales manager at Audi to call me. Rang him twice and left a message.

Still no call.

Just emails me and asks what time can he call me and I respond saying anytime and he doesn’t call.

Absolutely terrible service.

Has Audi Uk contacted you yet? I've now spoken to Audi Finance.

Finally rang me back

They are rolling out another update to KD2 at the beginning of Feb due to the number of people having issues with these new cars

So was given the option to wait and get that done (no guarantee it fixes out and could get worse like it did with KD2) and no further forward

Other option I was given was to apply to Audi Uk on a contribution to buy me out of the car. This then allows me to go anywhere I want for a different vehicle.

So just waiting to see what the settlement number is. I guarantee it will be just above trade value and will be a pittance as they want to force you to take the software update but time will tell

I dunno if I want to attempt another update for kd2 just to see if it may fix it or make things worse, but I fear that audi will do anything to keep us in these cars because the settlement figure will be high and above trade in value.

So just a little insight, that happened to me too with the Mazda, with promises of 'if after the updates the car continues to play up then we will most definitely refund it or swap it for a new one'..

Then the car continued to play up and they denied all knowledge when I asked for it to be rejected or swapped, even though I had stealthy recorded the conversation which was then given to the TMO...

Sadly, it wasn't anything the TMO could use, so be wary of accepting things because they also used the £1000 goodwill gesture they gave me against me saying I accepted the goodwill and gave up my rights to a return.

Well that issue will be realised next week I suppose.

See what they come up with.

If you got the vehicle on Audi Finance, Give them a ring and get a complaint, Mine is now going back to dealer for rejection. The finance company has said that they got no end of complaints for A5 with issues being rejected.

Gremlins are back.

Boot not opening properly again and cruse has gone off. Not used the car for three days

Boot cannot be reset and have to open all the doors to get cruise working

Laughable really.

But at lease the EML hasn’t lit up again (yet)

the boot would not open properly for me today. Because I opened the rear drive side door and closed it the cruise control now works for the time being, till I go out next time.

So with more issues over the weekend. Had another call with the dealer.

They said that given the number of faults with the car now and historically their warranty manager said it would be highly likely I get all my money back less the usage which is the 43p a mile another poster mentioned on here.

Sounds positive. Still not guaranteed though.
