Niggly issues thread

So today's issue is that some of the words on the MMi are now in German, despite the language being set to UK English.

Yep, been there. About 2 months ago it reset to polish or Romanian.

Another one that the dealer had to sort out.

I still have no data plan despite the app saying its active.

Can't install anything unless connected to house WiFi.

Today I have no sound from any radio station or music source. It would read out messages though. Will have to see if it works again later.
 
Seems to be no sign of any of the software fixes that they keep saying is coming.

My A5 b10 had explosion of errors on Monday afternoon, had it recovered to the dealer, they called me to tell me that they cleared the faults and that it need software fix, new software apparently is now week 50 Q4.
 
Now opened a case with Audi Uk. I think it unacceptable really.

Just had this together with a parking system fault light up. No volume on anything other than the mobile charging pad message.

Happened following torrential rain.

Hopefully it resets itself. I can’t face having to go to the chuffin dealer again

So I have a new issue today. After driving for a couple of minutes a contsant drone comes out of all the speakers. Resetting MMi and locking the car dont stop it. It stops after 5 minutes but continues when you start the ignition again. Back to the dealer tomorrow.
 
My car is booked in for its first service in a few weeks. I've listed the things to be looked at, at the same time, but I'm not optimistic.
 
My engine management light has come back on again this morning. I will get Canterbury Audi to clear it again. Need to talk to them about the mmi not always loading the navigation on startup. Always have to reboot it. I’m sure KD2 fixes this.

Also notice that the camera quality is quite poor front and back, the back is really poor at nighttime and day.

So light went out three days before it was booked in. Still took it in anyway

Mentioned KD2 update and it takes 2 days.

Couldn’t find a fault. Went to car park and the EML lit up straight away.

Marched back in and said it’s not right and the fans on the front are going like crazy

Now in a hire car whilst they investigate and update all the software.

Damn this car. More spurious faults with it in the last 6 months then my entire driving history of 30 plus years.

They are rolling them out. Book it in and insist it gets done. Allow about 2 days though. Reports it takes ages. 5 ECUs to program

Contacted my dealer who said they are aware there is an update but Audi are rolling it out and they have not got a date yet. Still waiting for a fix for the failed HUD.

EML went off before I could get it into them and they said nothing wrong with it. Luckily it came back on with the car stationary whilst they handed the keys over in the dealership on the myAudi app on my phone. Luckily I had notifications on.

Lo and behold we go to the car and light is back on ! Stationary with the fans going like crazy in the engine bay !

Software update being carried out and they mentioned something about a module being replaced in connection with the parking sensors.

So after a week in an A3 (which I think is great and like a go cart in comparison with peppy little 1.5 engine) I am seriously thinking about getting out of this car. It’s just not dependable and whats it going to be like out of warranty ! EML light on three times in 6 months and 4300 miles of driving.

So I might need to have “my medicine” and take a hit on it. Starting to look at either a nearly new S3 or going back to a late B9.5 if I can find a fully loaded black edition with some options and low mileage.

It’s really starting to get on my wick this car.

Mine was booked in for the software update on Thursday morning but the dealership got an email from Audi Wednesday evening pulling the plug on it. No reason given and no revised release date.
 
Driving home last night and Vehicle Lights warning illuminated. On instrument panel it showed “Vehicle lights: fault. please contact workshop”. Once home shut car down and went back later to find no warning lights. However, MyAudi app is still showing alert. No doubt another visit to dealers.
 
So mine is in for another week. They updated the software and the rear camera module flagged up as the issue.

Changed it and it will not code to the car properly as it won’t talk to the overheard camera system.

Another module now on order and then the whole process has to be repeated.

Mechanically the car is fine. Electrically these things look to be a bit of a nightmare.

Now strongly thinking about another B9.5 or S3

Imagine owning this out of warranty !!!!!!

The bills are going to be huge and I have noticed the values of these are tanking already.

This thread is a really good reason why i haven't replaced my S3 in 150k miles. I dont want a digital dash, touch screens , auto braking, lane deviation or even a cup holder :). I am sure its way cheaper to produce than analoge dials and switches but in an Audi no one is looking for way cheaper.....they just want things to work.

mine has been booked in for the update next Friday with a loaner car.
 
Got mine back after two weeks. All updated and a module replaced

Not noticed anything different other than the rear window heater now shows the wing mirrors. Sure it didn’t show that before

Same issue in my RS3 for 3-4 months now. Tried hard resets, disconnecting and reconnecting etc. Had it into Audi and no luck. Only way to use CarPlay is to connect phone via charging cable. Annoying!!

Well, finally. It appears that IOS26 has finally fixed the CarPlay issues on my RS3.
 
So after 30 miles of driving and being in Audi for two weeks the EML has made a return

I am so pished off with this car. Gonna have to speak to the dealer and Audi UK to get out of it I think. I can’t keep going on like this

Also fans on the front of it going like crazy even with a cold engine

Trying to do a deal to get out of it. Sick of it. S3 vorsprung in the showroom

A model a few years old which is proven !!!!

After months with no warnings the dash lit up like a Vegas casino this morning. loose wheel warning, Tyre pressure warning, Drive system fault and ECS warning light on. Dealer advised me to call Audi Assist who immediately referred me back to dealer. Booked in for Monday!

crunch day! Mine is now with the dealer for the software update. In a A1 which is awful.
 
update: Car back from dealers, ,Update went okay. Cant really see any difference part from an icon change on the rear demister button to inc mirror. However there is KD3 update to come apparently and this is also a dealer visit and it next year schedule release.

Just hope it has cured 90% of the issues.

The wing mirror in the rear demister was the only thing I had noticed as well. Can’t see any other differences

So the fault with my A5 is the flap motor at the front which opens the dynamic flaps in the front grill.

The remained closed (or couldn’t open) and this is why the fans are on constantly and at high speed

So don’t know what to do know. Buy an S3 which some pretty sky high maintenance bills in the future or give this A5 another chance.

Also been looking at 2024 run out model B9.5 black edition which is what I had before. (Straight swap) but just got sick of buckling wheels on that

Give the A5 another chance. I'm. sure they will resolve the issues. The KD2 is just a stop gap till kd3 out what I was told. I has a S4 which I liked so much that I will try and get back into s5.

That’s what I have decided Baron02

It’s a mechanical fault which could have been there all along and hence the spurious EMLs as the flat motor started degrading over time.

Will give it another chance.

If it goes on again it’s gone. Simple. Will go back to previous generation A5 or dare I say it an A6 which is a bit fuddy duddy for me but I am over 50 and they are super refined as I have an avant loaner at the moment.

I really think Audi is losing the plot with this latest generation cars together with most manufacturers.

I might even be swayed to a BMw 320 or 330 / 330e if I can find one for not much money to change.

Other than that the A7 is too big. A3 a bit small and there’s not much else out there that I fancy. Besides the bill for an S3 with adaptive dampers, rear torque splitting diff etc will be massive if there’s a problem. I hear an oil change is £ 520 and a set of front discs and pads is over a grand !

Mercs and Jags are not my thing either and simply hate the look of every electric car on the market at the moment but they’re tanking on depreciation and HUGE bills if they go wrong. I would only lease one of them and not own it like I do with the A5
